The Halloween Gambit is risky, but it's also exciting. It teaches players to attack, think fast, and play with courage. Even though it's not often used in big tournaments, it's a great opening to try with friends.

The moves start like this:
1. e4 e5
2. Nf3 Nc6
3. Nc3 Nf6
4. Nxe5

Here, White gives up a knight very early in the game. Most people think this is a mistake, but it's actually part of the plan. After losing the knight, White pushes pawns to chase the black knights away and take control of the middle of the board.

The Women’s Rapid Chess Category of the Opol Community College Intramurals 2025 showcased remarkable skill from the College of Teacher Education (CTE) as they secured the top two podium finishes.

Nausica Madrigal emerged as champion after a consistent and commanding performance, while her fellow CTE representative, Jan Lujain Baranggan, followed closely in second place. Taking third was Gemma Lacida from the College of Business Administration (CBA), preventing a full CTE sweep.

The event highlighted CTE’s strength in the women’s division, proving their depth and competitive edge in the strategic world of rapid chess.

𝐂𝐈𝐓 𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐑𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐎𝐂𝐂 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓

The Men’s Rapid Chess Category of the Opol Community College Intramurals 2025 highlighted sharp plays and calculated strategies, with the College of Information Technology (CIT) emerging on top.

Leading the charge was Neil Sabellina of CIT, who claimed first place with impressive control and consistency throughout the rounds. Elmer Magnetico of the College of Business Administration (CBA) secured second place, while Renniel Pelarmo, also from CIT, finished strong in third to further solidify CIT’s dominance in the event.

The Rapid games proved to be a true test of focus and endurance, adding another exciting chapter to the chess battles of the intramurals.
