2 DAYS TO GO until the official launch of "An Ginikanan kan Birhen nin Peñafrancia sa Naga" (The Origin of the Virgin of Peñafrancia in Naga)!

Proceeds from this book will directly support the Basilica Minore, the Lay Formation Institute, and publishing missions dedicated to preserving Bikolano culture through children's literature.

Batch 1 of the two-day BUKLAT Children's Storytelling and Bookmaking workshop kicked off today, August 29, 2026, at the Naga City People's Council Empowerment Hall. This activity, initiated by Towfee Publishing House and the Naga City Arts and Culture Coalition, Inc. through Naga City's Co-Creation Fund, is geared towards addressing the literacy gap that plagues our educational system by capacitating educators, artists, and cultural storytellers to create materials that will motivate our young learners to read.

Today, the sessions were focused on the basics of storytelling through words and sequencing of illustrations, worldbuilding, and assembling drafts.

Tomorrow, the sessions will focus on the language of children's books, and the craft of translation.

Selected outputs will be lined up for possible publication and distribution.

Towfee Publishing House and ALT ED+, in partnership with the Naga City Arts and Culture Coalition, Inc., DTI Camarines Sur, the National Book Development Board, and The 416 Art Space, reveals its young authors who underwent the Bookmaking workshop by NCACCI Cultural Dissemination representative Christopher Asa.
