We are a group of first-year anesthesiology residentsโcoming from different schools, different experiences, and different personalities. Some of us just graduated, others took a longer path, but now we all share the same role in the operating room.
In the OR, we are used to staying in the background. While the surgery takes center stage, we are quietly focusedโwatching monitors, managing anesthesia, securing airways, and making sure everything runs smoothly. We work with precision, patience, and constant vigilance, often unnoticed but always essential to patient care. We are not usually the ones in the spotlight.
In fact, many of us prefer it that way. We find comfort in routine, in silence, and in the steady rhythm of our work behind the scenes. But tonight, weโre changing roles. From the background, we step into the spotlight.
This is something new for us, and definitely outside our comfort zones. But just like in our daily work, we rely on teamwork, timing, and coordination.
So for tonight, we trade monitors for music and routines for rhythmโas we show a lighter side of ourselves, have a little fun, and remind everyone that beyond the OR, we are human too.
