On 20 February 2026, the ROTC program successfully conducted its Sixth Training Day for the Second Semester, focusing on the familiarization of the M-16 rifle and the proper safety handling associated with it. The session, guided by SSg Voltaire D Manalo PAF and was attended by the Advance Officers and Basic Cadets/Cadettes of Alpha Centauri Educational System Inc. (ACES).
The training emphasized the importance of understanding the basic functions of the M-16 rifle not for aggression, but for responsibility, discipline, and safety. Cadets were taught proper handling procedures, including safe positioning, awareness of surroundings, and respect for the equipment at all times. Learning the parts and functions of the rifle helped instill accountability and reinforced the mindset that fi****ms are tools that must be handled with caution and professionalism.
As future law enforcers, gaining knowledge of firearm safety and functionality is essential. Understanding how the M-16 operates prepares cadets to act with competence and control in situations where responsibility and sound judgment are required. More than technical familiarity, the training highlighted the values of discipline, restraint, and duty and qualities vital in maintaining peace and protecting the community.
Meanwhile, the Advance Officers were simultaneously undergoing a 3-minute drill evaluation for an upcoming event, preparing them to respond effectively in unexpected situations.
Through this activity, cadets were reminded that true strength lies not in the weapon itself, but in the knowledge, responsibility, and integrity of the one who carries it.
