The LYR Cup 2025 brought together some of the most formidable Ultimate teams in the country, boasting stacked rosters and high-level experience. Among the invited squads was Team Dagmay, who received their invitation even before the official team list was released. With limited time to prepare and a short roster, Dagmay still chose to rise to the challenge.
In the weeks leading up to the tournament, Dagmay faced a common yet difficult hurdle: player availability. Many of their athletes were students or professionals based far from home, making it difficult to commit to regular practices. But despite the logistical setbacks, they stayed the course.
Every weekend, the team returned home to North Cotabato, consistently showing up for their local Saturday League, rotating between Kidapawan, M’lang, and Kabacan. This dedication to their grassroots scene played a pivotal role in building chemistry, sharpening their game, and nurturing trust between veterans and newcomers alike.
Once the tournament kicked off, Dagmay was immediately thrown into the fire. Their road to the finals was anything but easy—most of their games were nail-biters, decided by universal point. But match after match, the team proved their mettle, battling through fatigue and adversity with resilience and heart.
In the finals, Dagmay went head-to-head with Team Waraynon from the Visayas—another top-tier team known for their grit. The game lived up to the hype, with every point hard-earned. Once again, the match came down to universal point. This time, Dagmay unleashed everything they had.
With their backs against the wall and the title on the line, they dug deep, leaned into their chemistry, and played with total unity. The result? A hard-fought victory and the LYR Cup 2025 Pool B Championship.
Despite entering the tournament with a shorter roster than most, Dagmay showed the Ultimate community that trust, chemistry, and determination can outweigh numbers on a stat sheet. Leading the charge was captain Miking Bustamante, whose leadership and performance earned him the well-deserved Finals MVP award.
