PASSI CITY WINS 2ND RUNNER-UP AT THE 2026 ATOP PEARL AWARDS!

Another proud milestone for the City of Passi!

Passi City proudly secured the 2nd Runner-Up distinction at the 2026 ATOP Pearl Awards under the category of Best Event Hosting International, held yesterday in Ormoc City. This recognition celebrates the city’s dedication to promoting tourism, showcasing its unique attractions, and implementing meaningful initiatives that strengthen Passi City’s position as an emerging tourism destination in Western Visayas and beyond.

Representing the city at the awarding ceremony was City Tourism Department Head, Mrs. Ma. Gina S. Palmares, who joined fellow tourism leaders in celebrating excellence, innovation, and outstanding achievements in Philippine tourism.

This achievement would not have been possible without the continued support and leadership of City Mayor, Atty. Stephen Palmares; Vice Mayor Elyzer Chavez; and the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP), whose commitment to the city’s development helps advance tourism initiatives and create more opportunities for Passi City and its people.

We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to the City Tourism Office, our dedicated partners, stakeholders, and every Passinhon who continues to contribute to the growth and promotion of our city’s tourism industry. This recognition is a testament to what we can accomplish through unity, collaboration, and a shared vision for a more vibrant and progressive Passi City.

🏆 TOURNAMENT FORMAT & MECHANICS

ELIMINATION ROUND

The teams will be divided into approximately four (4) brackets.

The elimination round will follow a Single Round-Robin format, wherein each team will compete against all teams within their respective bracket.

Rankings in each bracket will be determined by the total number of wins.

The Top 2 teams with the most wins from each bracket will advance to the Quarter-Finals, which will be played through single-elimination crossover matches.

🏓 Winners of the crossover matches will advance to the Semi-Finals.

SEMI-FINALS

The semi-final matchups will be:

🥇 Bracket A – 1st Place vs. Bracket B – 2nd Place
🥇 Bracket B – 1st Place vs. Bracket A – 2nd Place

MATCH FORMAT

🔥 Eliminations & Quarter-Finals
All matches will be Race to 11, with the winner determined by one (1) point.

If the score reaches 10–10, the next point wins ~ sudden death!

🔥 Semi-finals Match
The Semi Finals match will be Race to 15. (Sudden death)

🔥 Championship Match
The championship match will be Race to 15.

If the score reaches 15–15, the match will continue until one team establishes a two only 1 (2)-point lead to win.

⚖️ TIE-BREAKER

In case two or more teams are tied in the total number of wins, the following tie-breakers will be applied in order:

1️⃣ Head-to-head result
2️⃣ Point differential — points scored minus points allowed
3️⃣ Total points scored
