CPU Sigrab Film Festival

CPU Sigrab Film Festival Established in 2017, Sigrab Film Festival is the official film festival of Central Philippine University, initiated by the AB Mass Communication program.

It serves as a platform for filmmaking and advocacy. The SIGRAB Film Festival is an avenue for Centralians to showcase their storytelling skills, artistic talents and creativity through filmmaking- seeking to support original Ilonggo film creations by young Centralians.

𝗖𝗘𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗯 '𝟮𝟲: CBA’s ‘IKNIKMSI’ returns as Best Short Film after 5-year bid, sweeps five special awards

College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) secured the Best Short Film award at the SIGRAB Film Festival 2026 with “IKNIKMSI (Iníng Kánta nga Índì ko Mahambál sa imó),” today.

The entry also won Production Design, Best Original Soundtrack, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Cinematography.

‘IKNIKMSI’ marked the college’s first live-audience victory after consistent participation since 2018, with its previous win as best short film held during the pandemic via online screening in 2021.

Directed by Alexus Jan Yap and written by Jaylord Juadiong, the Hiligaynon musical drama follows Alon, a son navigating a home silenced by grief, as he attempts to reclaim his voice through music despite his father’s refusal to confront their loss.

𝗖𝗘𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗯 '𝟮𝟲: CHM soars to Special Jury Prize with ‘Sa Mga Panganod’

College of Hospitality Management (CHM) bagged the Special Jury Prize at the Sigrab Film Festival 2026 for their short film “Sa Mga Panganod”, today.

Directed by Chiara Belle Cabiten, from a screenplay written by Shanz Angel Fabila and Zaharra Nicole Estandarte, the film follows Maya, a graduating tourism student, who sets out to capture images for a tourism video promoting the Philippines under the banner “It’s More Fun in the Philippines.”

The film entry also earned awards for Best Actress, Best Editing, and Best Director.

“ANGGID” of the College of Nursing (CON) secured the Second Jury Prize at the Sigrab Film Festival 2026, today.

Directed by Zian Christian Lirazan, from a screenplay written by Cheyn Everest Ban and Bryant Padasay, the film follows a young painter on the brink of graduation as he embarks on a journey with his best friend to complete a bucket list after a devastating loss.

The film entry also earned awards for Best Supporting Actor, Best Actor, and Best Screenplay.

College of Education (COEd) bagged the People’s Choice Award at the Sigrab Film Festival 2026, with their short film “NATIPIGAN”, today.

The People’s Choice Award is given to the production team whose short film poster garners the highest number of valid positive reactions on the official SIGRAB Film Festival page.

This year, the poster for “NATIPIGAN” amassed almost 1,500 reactions during the voting period from April 10 to 14, on its official Facebook post.
