It began with a simple idea: this was never just about bamboo.
Filipino architects Christian Salandanan and Kath Sapungay of Sangay Architects oversaw the project’s local ex*****on at Kawayan Ecopark, shaping a structure rooted in memory, climate, and community. Designed to face the Philippines’ extreme weather, bamboo was paired with steel—one flowing, the other supporting, both in balance.
Anchored on stone and left in its natural form, bamboo stands here as a symbol of strength, elegance, and permanence. Along the way, local builders and Balinese artisans worked side by side, turning construction into a shared exchange of craft and respect 🌿
