We can't wait to see you tomorrow at 3F James O’Brien Library of the Ateneo de Naga University, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Witness the speeches to be delivered by our esteemed speakers on the topics of Environment, Disaster Psychology, and Public Speaking! πŸƒπŸ§ πŸ’¬

As we celebrate this year's World Speech Day with the theme Speak as a World Citizen, here are some of the reminders we'd like to share with you:

1. Please bring your School ID/any valid identification card and present them upon entry to the university guards. This applies to all participants--both from outside and inside Ateneo de Naga University.

2. You may bring your pen and paper or other note-taking materials.

3. Digital copies of certificates will be given to participants who have answered the event's evaluation form which will be made available at the end of the session.

4. For outside participants, usherettes will be present to guide and assist you in finding the venue for WSD-Naga 2026 or you may ask our Security Personnel for guidance. Attached herewith is also a copy of the University Map for your guidance. Kindly observe the university dress code upon entrance.

5. Be on time. Registration begins at 8:00 AM. You may register via the Google Form or come as a walk-in.

6. Be active and participate! Our goal for this year's World Speech Day is to create and discover ideas for the better in whatever path or field one might be in, so your insights are very valuable!

πŸ‘―β€β™€οΈ May the stage and the people of the Debate Society of the Bicol Region welcome the legend herself, Ms. Emilia Mari Goyena, whose skills and leadership have left a lasting mark on the debate community for the better. πŸ‘―β€β™€οΈ

Ms. Emilia Mari Goyena is a 4th-year BS Psychology student at Ateneo de Naga University. She served as President of the Remontados Debate Society, the university’s official debate varsity, from 2023 to 2024, and later as Vice President for Membership and Training until January 2026. She is a three-time national breaking speaker and was ranked 2nd Best Speaker in the Union category at the latest National Debate Championship. She is also a two-time regional champion and placed among the Top 10 Best Speakers of Bicol in three consecutive Raul Roco Cups. In addition, she served as Vice President of the Bicol Debate Union and has coached many young debaters over the past year. 🎀

May we introduce Ms. Joanaviva C. Plopenio, our local scientist bringing her expertise in Environmental Science and sustainable urban development to the spotlight. She is the Director of the Institute for Environmental Conservation and Research (INECAR) of ADNU (Ateneo de Naga University). She earned her degree in Environmental Science from the University of the Philippines Diliman (UP Diliman). A dedicated educator, she has worked with local and global partners, from Naga City initiatives to UNESCAP (United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific). She has been involved in localizing the 2030 Agenda through Sustainable Urban Resource Management (SURM), turning her knowledge into real-world impact.

🧠 Kicking off this year's roster for World Speech Day Naga is the one and only Lee Lorca! 🧠

With over several years of teaching experience, many students know and love him for his wit and passion for the social sciences. He is an alumnus of Ateneo De Naga University's BS Psychology program. He was declared a national first placer for having an outstanding undergraduate thesis in the 26th Psychological Association of the Philippines- Junior Affiliates (PAPJA) convention. In August 2023, he was the fourth placer of the Guidance Counselors’ Licensure Examination. He is currently serving as a guidance counselor of Nabua National High School.

I wanna hear you! 🎀

World Speech Day is celebrated every 15th of March in over 100 nations worldwide. The Remontados Debate Society is proud to be its partner, and we have consistently hosted World Speech Day Naga annually at Ateneo de Naga University. Today, with the theme β€œSpeak as a World Citizen,” we aim to create a space to encourage students to learn or practice public speaking. Through this initiative, it will provide a gateway for public-speaking beginners to learn to be global citizens whose voices and ideas are heard and appreciated.
