Three years of finish lines crossed, personal bests broken, and community bonds strengthened. That legacy is real, and it belongs to every single one of you who laced up, showed up, and brought others along.
Cancelling this was one of the hardest decisions we have made as a team. The Dalagan Kaabag Neon Run was never just an event. It was a gathering of people who believe in something bigger than a finish line. Watching it grow into one of Dumaguete Cityβs most beloved runs has been one of our greatest honors, and we do not take lightly what it means to let this year go.
But our mission has always been rooted in the communities we serve, and right now those communities are carrying a weight that cannot be ignored. The rising cost of fuel driven by global conflict, and the shifting political climate here at home, are putting real pressure on everyday Filipinos. Families are tightening their belts. People are quietly struggling. Putting on a large-scale celebration in this climate did not sit right with us, and we knew you would understand why.
To everyone who had already registered, your excitement gave us so much energy in the lead-up to this yearβs run, and we are genuinely grateful for it. We are actively working on processing refunds and will be reaching out to each of you directly with the details. We ask for your patience as we work through this carefully, and we want you to know that taking care of you is a priority.
We will also be posting updates on our next steps and on how we plan to channel our efforts toward tangible support for the communities around us. This is where the spirit of kaabag lives on.
To our runners, volunteers, and everyone who poured their heart into making Dalagan Kaabag what it became: salamat. From the bottom of ours. This is not goodbye to what we built together. It is a promise to show up for our community in the ways that matter most right now.
Until the road brings us together again. π€
