IRAN DRONE STRIKE SHUTS DOWN WORLD'S LARGEST OIL REFINERY IN SAUDI ARABIA
Tensions in the Middle East have escalated sharply after a suspected Iranian drone strike forced Saudi Arabia to shut down the Ras Tanura oil refinery, one of the largest refining facilities in the world.
Saudi Aramco halted operations as a precaution after the drone attack triggered a small fire at the facility, which authorities later confirmed was brought under control. No major casualties have been reported so far, but the shutdown has raised serious concerns about global energy security and oil supply stability.
The Ras Tanura refinery processes around 550,000 barrels of crude oil per day, making it a critical hub for international oil exports. Following the incident, global oil markets reacted immediately, with crude prices surging amid fears of wider disruption across the Gulf region.
The strike comes amid ongoing regional conflict and retaliatory attacks across multiple Middle Eastern countries, increasing fears of a broader geopolitical crisis that could impact global trade, shipping routes, and fuel prices worldwide.
The situation remains under close monitoring as Saudi authorities assess damage and markets brace for further volatility.
