Our Race Director

Three days have passed, but my heart is still somewhere on that course.
To everyone who became part of Cebulan Backyard Ultra 2026, thank you.
As I reflect on the past few days, I find myself overwhelmed with gratitude. What started as an idea became a reality. What started as a dream became a story that none of us will ever forget.
We witnessed runners push beyond their limits. We witnessed courage, resilience, heartbreak, triumph, and history. We witnessed a new women’s record, a new Philippine Backyard Ultra record, a Last Woman Standing, a Last Man Standing, and an incredible Assist. But beyond the records, we witnessed something even more special the strength of the human spirit.
For me, this journey is deeply personal.
Years ago, I was part of the Backyard community in a different way. I stood beside athletes as support crew, helping them through the long hours and difficult moments. This weekend, I stood as Race Director of my own Backyard Ultra and watched some of those same athletes continue their journey on a course that began as a dream in my heart.
That realization still brings tears to my eyes.
Because this event was never just about running.
It was about believing in something enough to build it.
It was about creating a place where people could discover what they are truly capable of.
It was about community.
To every runner who trusted us with your journey, thank you.
To every volunteer who stayed awake through the night, thank you.
To every crew member who never stopped believing in their runner, thank you.
To our sponsors, partners, marshals, photographers, and everyone who worked behind the scenes, thank you.
You are the reason this event became possible.
Full of appreciation for every person who helped make Cebulan Backyard Ultra 2026 what it became.
The records will someday be broken.
The trophies will eventually collect dust.
But the memories we created, the friendships we strengthened, and the stories we shared will remain long after the final bell.
