Cebu City Niños Dominate CVIRAA 3x3, Clinch Gold with Perfect Run
The Cebu City Niños delivered a commanding performance in the Secondary Boys 3x3 Basketball division of the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA), completing a flawless 8–0 sweep en route to the gold medal.
Cebu City sealed their dominance in the finals with a decisive 21–12 victory over Tagbilaran City, showcasing superior ex*****on, chemistry, and composure under pressure.
Representing Abellana National School, the squad featured Shawn Maxwell A. Faciol (Grade 12 – Tethys), Clark James A. Barangan (Grade 11 – Auriga), Carl Jeff U. Mabano (Grade 11 – Auriga), and Vance Andrey B. Pepito (Grade 11 – Auriga). Each player played a crucial role in sustaining the team’s unbeaten run throughout the tournament.
Team captain Shawn Faciol expressed gratitude and pride following their historic sweep.
“We are very happy that we swept the entire CVIRAA. Although this is our first time participating in CVIRAA, we got through it very well with God’s help and everybody’s support—especially our sponsors ONWARD, THERESE SPORTSWEAR, and ALLIED NETWORK SOLUTION. This is the feeling we’ve been craving—the feeling of success—but the job is not finished,” Faciol said.
The victory further solidifies Cebu City’s standing as a regional powerhouse in basketball and builds momentum as the Niños set their sights on the upcoming Palarong Pambansa, where they aim to continue their winning form and bring pride to Central Visayas.
