Last Monday, different representatives from various schools came together to play sports, perform, and gather. Whichever expression it may take: competitive sport, drag, singing, or speech, all called for better education.

We would like to thank our partners: Kabataan Partylist Cebu, UPC, and USC chapters, USC Supreme Student Council, UP Cebu University Student Council, Student Alliance for Nationalism and Democracy (STAND)- USC, Gabriela Youth, Carolinian Political Science Society, Today’s Carolinian, Scire, Student Alliance for a Christian and Real Education under Democracy (SACRED)-USJR, Cebu Young Artists Society for Good Governance, Toledo Independent Network Developers for Good Governance, Coalition of Concerned SWUdents - SWU, Anakbayan - Cebu, League of Filipino Students - Cebu, Kapit Kamay - Alternative Learning Avenue for the Youth - Talisay, Sangguniang Kabataan - Barangay Mabolo, and Sangguniang Kabataan - Barangay Tisa.

This collective enthusiasm and passion for change is only the beginning. As the education crisis worsens, we shall continue to take a stand. We will express our sentiments through sports, arts, and culture, to show that are already patriotic and nationalist in our desire for change. We shall make known our calls for quality and accessible education, in hopes that more will join us.

So long as I don’t give up, the possibility of winning will never fall to zero.

Once again, mark your calendar as we witness the intense court battle for an exciting event for Basketball Players at the SLAY for Education Sports Fest on June 19, 2023. Brace yourself as we present the outstanding teams from different schools that will brighten the courts with their skills, abilities, teamwork, competitiveness, and unwavering grit!

We present the fearless and determined teams from the University of San Carlos (USC) and Sacred! Both teams have different preparation and playing techniques but share the same goal — to make their school proud and to prevail in the upcoming match. Together let us witness the exciting battle between these two teams as they showcase their commitment and determination to playing basketball.

As these teams strive for victory and championships as they surpass their limits. Don’t miss this opportunity to support your chosen teams and be part of these unique sports events. We would like to invite you to join us at the SLAY for Education sports fest on June 19, 2023.

In recent times, our educational sector has been facing an increasing amount of challenges that needs to be brought forth to the attention of the masses as it plays a vital role in educating the population. If neglected, this may result in serious consequences that may very well affect the education throughout the Philippines. One of the most vulnerable sectors in this problem is the youth.

Most of the issues were worsened by the very people who are expected to ensure no problem may come about, our own government. Their responses came in the form of red-tagging and harassment, which would lead to more unrest. Another problem is the prioritization of the ROTC which the government believes would instill ideas of nationalism and patriotism, especially to the youth. This would lead to the descaling of the quality of education that our country desperately needs.

In celebration of the Filipino Youth Day on the 19th of June. In order to show camaraderie with our fellow Filipinos and our love for the Philippines we will hold a sports event and cultural festival that would allow us to come together as one. An event where we will be able to bring and raise awareness to the harsh societal issues that affect the welfare of our fellow Filipinos and to call for better conditions where we all would feel safe and secure.
