As reported during the 4th Quarter Joint Council Meeting of the Catbalogan City Tourism Council (CTC) and the Local Culture & the Arts Council of Catbalogan City (LCAC), the 22nd Manaragat Festival of Catbalogan City has contributed major economic benefits, gathered a record-breaking number of tourists and participants, and has played a significant role to the people of Catbalogan and Samarnons alike.
Last August 01-31, 2024 was the 21st Manaragat Festival that carried the theme of One Identity, One Communityโ, which was approved by the Catbalogan City Tourism Council (CTC) and the Local Culture & Arts Council of Catbalogan City (LCAC).
The whole monthlong generated several economic and social impacts to identified stakeholders, partners and communities, namely:
- Around P2,000,000.00 income was generated out of the prizes won during the Tandaya Festival 2025, payments of concessionaires for both the City Plaza and Catbalogan Seaside City, and various sponsorships;
- An estimated P102,000,000.00 tourist receipts computed by multiplying the number of overnight tourists for the month of August 2025 with the average daily tourist expenditure as provided by the Department of Tourism Regional Office VIII (DOT RO8);
- Around 270,000 day tourists were recorded from identified tourism sites such as but not limited to City Plaza, Imelda Park, St. Bartholomew Church, Pieta Park, Buri Baras Beach, and Seaside City;
- 17,432 overnight tourists were recorded as reported from hotels, resorts, and other monitored accommodation establishments, which was the highest recorded statistics for the whole year and since 2019 and higher than last year's;
- Around 17.1 million engagement from all social media platforms of the city government only for the month of August.
In total, 23 competitions were held and 20 cultural shows were conducted at City Plaza and at Seaside City; 7 concerts were organized featuring various national and local artists; 3 pageants with 3 pre-pageants were held showcasing the talents, creativity and grit of Catbaloganon; and the double-tie win in the Festival of Festivals and a three-peat win in the Float Competition of Tandaya Festival of Festivals.
These numbers reflect the measurable impacts of the conduct of the different activities and competitions during the 2025 Manaragat Festival that contributed to the increased tourist arrival, increased income collection, increased engagement, and increased awareness on the advocacies of the festival focusing on cultural preservation and environmental protection.
This 22nd Manaragat Festival was organized by the City Government of Catbalogan headed by City Mayor Dexter Uy in celebration of the feast of Seรฑor San Bartolome this whole month of August as supported by City Vice Coefredo โTekwaโ Uy and City Councilor Stephany Uy as Committee Chair on Tourism, Culture and Arts.
All activities were facilitated by the Catbalogan City Tourism, Culture, Arts & Information Office (CTCAIO) as supported by the Catbalogan City Tourism Council (CTC) and the Local Culture & Arts Council of Catbalogan City (LCAC).
