Competition Announcements!
Witness the thunderous energy of the Patikanay Drumbeating Competition as it takes center stage on January 16, 2026, at 7:00 PM at the Cadiz City Grandstand.
This electrifying showdown is open to all bonafide Cadiz City residents with a passion for drumbeating, no age limit required. Expect powerful tribal rhythms, dynamic group performances, and visually striking costumes inspired by the 52nd Dinagsa Festival theme as groups battle it out for pride, prestige, and exciting cash prizes.
Cash prizes await the Top 5 groups, including Champion, special awards, and consolation prizes!
Competition Highlights & Guidelines:
1. The competition is open to all bonafide residents and drum beaters of Cadiz City, with no age limit required.
2. The competing group must have a minimum of 15 to a maximum of 20 Instrumentalists. All groups must wear costumes relevant to the 52nd Dinagsa Festival theme. T-shirts, warmers, jackets, and other casual or informal attire are strictly prohibited. Five (5) points deduction from the total score of each judge for non-compliance.
3. The contest music piece must be Tribal Beat only. All music must be live. Canned music or whatsoever Electronic Instruments are not allowed. Five (5) point deduction from the total score of each judge for non-compliance.
4. All competing groups must provide a one (1) minute synopsis to be read by the emcee during their entrance. Submission must not be later than January 9, 2026. One (1) point deduction from the total score of each judge for non-compliance.
5. The use of any musical instruments whether wind instruments, drums, native materials like bamboos, leaves, woods, or recycled materials are highly encouraged.
6. Presentations must be within the minimum of five (5) minutes to six (7) minutes only. An excess will merit the five (5) point deduction from the total score of each judge.
7. The order of performance shall be determined by drawing of lots before the competition.
8. The Patikanay Drumbeating Committee shall carefully select the panel of three (3) judges.
9. Ranking system shall be used in determining the number of winners.
10. Protest should be made during the deliberation process and before the announcement of winners with sufficient proof of the acts/items protested.
11. The Judges’ decision is FINAL and IRREVOCABLE.
12. All participants are required to submit to wit as follows; (Entry Forms and other requirements should be submitted on or before January 09, 2026)

13. A total of Five (5) will be chosen as winners. The competition will be held at the Cadiz City Hall 1, Grandstand at 7:00PM.

Musicality – 30%
Originality – 30%
Showmanship – 30%
Costume – 10%
