BUTUAN CITY SENDS-OFF 111 STRONG ATHLETES, COACHES AND OFFICIALS TO THE BATANG PINOY (BP) AND PHILIPPINE NATIONAL GAMES (PNG) 2023
The City Government of Butuan, through the great leadership and support of the Honorable Mayor, Engr. Ronnie Vicente C. Lagnada, is sending-off 111 strong contingent to represent Butuan City in the Batang Pinoy and Philippine National Games to be held in Manila on December 16-22, 2023.
The sending-off ceremony was held last December 11, 2023 at the City Hall Lobby led by the City Sports Officer-in-Charge, Mr. Rosalito “Theo” B. Libres and the Chief of Staff of the SK Federation representing the SK President, Honorable Joseph Manuel “Otep” Morcilla
The BATANG PINOY and PHILIPPINE NATIONAL GAMES National Championship is a multi-sport competition for Filipino youth aged 17 years old and below and 18 years old and above is sponsored by the Philippine Sports Commission in partnership with the Philippine Olympic Committee and the Department of Education.
The objective of the National Competition, which is handled by Philippine Sports Commissions (PSC), will serve as a selection ground for potential national athletes and eventually compete in international competitions such as the Southeast Asian Games, Asian Games, Olympic Games, and other major international sports competitions.
The National Competition is comprised of 26 sporting events, male and female, for both Batang Pinoy (BP) and Philippine National Games (PNG).
Of the 26 sporting events, Butuan City is fielding 11 events namely, Athletics, Arnis, Chess, Gymnastics Muay Thai, Sepak Takraw, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Wrestling and Dancesport.
To qualify as a delegate representing Butuan City in the 2023 Batang Pinoy and Philippine National Games Competition, one must have won any of the medals; Gold, Silver or Bronze, from the last two years’ competition in the Palarong Pambansa, Batang Pinoy, National Games and other PSC sponsored national competitions.
This year’ s qualified delegates are the following;

Gymnastics
MuayThai
Sepak Takraw
Swimming
Table Tennis
Taekwondo
Wrestling
Dancesport
