Paradise (Season 1)

Well-seated for the day in binge-watching this sci-fi murder-mystery drama. The poster is just 1% of the story! It strikes the mind, & the heart.

The world experienced environmental catastrophe na magiging dahilan ng human extinction. As a result, some people built a self-sustaining community underground, designed to house only 25,000 people to be SAVED!

Everything is going well not until the President of the ‘Paradise’ was found dead in the White House.

Plus…this could be closer to reality than we think. Just I wish we’re in the right place, time, & our people when that happens.

Dsurv ang mga award. Swak at nakuha naman talaga nila ang kiliti ng masa for a just right-melodrama-movie-to-watch with your family during holidays.

Hands down kila Dennis at Ruru dahil madadala ka sa acting nila, pero the best para sa amin yung bata. Nakatulong din ang magagandang shots para madeliver ang message ng istorya - that there's something good within all of us.

We loved how they weaved the story - the thrilling effect of the first act, & very smooth na turn of events sa second act. Maganda ang contrast ng POV ng dalawang bida - then boom, the long awaited connection. We get it why others rate it very high dahil sa emotional appeal ng kwento. But we gave it 4 lang dahil we think kaya pa iimprove yung final act. We felt na overexplained lang yung pagiging 'mabuti', & very theatrical lang yung mga last part instead of making it natural.

But overall, we were touched by the story, at sobrang effective element nung certain sign language sa kwento!

Pero ito ang moral lesson - we listen and we don't judge.

If hindi manalo si Vilma Santos para 'muli' sa Best Actress, hindi namin alam anong criteria at judging ang ginawa nila. With simple revenge storyline, good actors, at malinis na build up, Uninvited is a good frontrunner for this year's MMFF (which we think kalaban ng Green Bones). This is satisfying to watch!

Vilma Santos is so good to make herself pathetic, at makuha ang sympathy ng audience. Ang sarap sapukin ni Aga Muchlach, at so so lang dito si President N**s. Sobrang effective sa limited screen time ni Elijah Canlas at Gabby Padilla (oh Gabby you made us cry).

What we loved in this movie is hindi pinilit maging emotional. You will just feel it habang nanonood ka. Iba ang pagmamahal ng isang Nanay. Tama at natural lang din ang batuhan ng linya. But we think kaya at pwede pang mas kasatisfy-satisy yung dulo, but other than that, everything is spot on.

Bago lumabas ang results ngayong gabi ng awarding, we hope this gets the best Actress, Supporting Actress, at Director categories. Okay din sana Screenplay, pero feeling namin makuha ng Green Bones 'yun at Best Picture (based lang sa reviews na mga nakita namin).

Compare to other entries this year (though 'di pa namin nakita others, but checked all the trailers), this is original, and creative story. Though looked similar with other foreign political movies we watched, bago ito and a good risk sa Philippine Cinema.

It's not the serious & composed Vic Sotto that shocked us, but Piolo Pascual who never disappoints, and steals the spotlight in every scene na nandun siya. Hindi sya tatawaging 'Papa P' nang wala lang. 😆

It's a family drama dressed as first-world monarchical Philippines - na "Malaya" ang tawag sa pelikula. Worth the wait naman sa mahabang exposition sa thrill ng climax hanggang ending. If maenhance pa ang whole production, cinematography, scoring, at lalo na ang script, this is really good.

Walang wala ang Enteng Kabisote.

Tamang timpla para sa masa at sa pamilyang Pilipino. Okay ang pagkakalatag ng premise ng kwento, tamang pasok din ng humor, hindi pilit. Okay rin naman ang dialogue, may iba lang na lines na Vice-Ganda coded - ibig sabihin, naimpluwensyahan nya yung script ng totoong writer.

Okay sya to watch dahil may sense yung kwento! Commercialized man, pero kontrolado. Give it a 3 though dahil we feel like imbalance ang drama at comedy, and one-dimensional lang yung other characters. Vice Ganda's monologue was too long for us as well, and felt that ending was rushed.

But overall, this is better compare to Vice Ganda's previous films. Nice improvement!
