ICYMI – January 13, 2024 @ Montalbo Covered Court

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose V. Lacson opened the ABANSE NEGRENSE – NBTC Basketball League (Central Negros Local Qualifier) at the Montalbo Covered Court in Bacolod City on January 13, 2024 (Saturday).

National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) Program Director Coach Eric Altamirano and Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas Regional Director Mr. Robert Uy also graced the opening of the tournament, along with Provincial Sports Office Head and Executive Assistant for Sports, Mr. Anthony Carlo Agustin.

The ABANSE NEGRENSE – NBTC Basketball League is part of the ABANSE NEGRENSE Sports Programs spearheaded by Gov. B**g Lacson and assisted by Mr. Tony Agustin. The league was divided into three (3) clusters – the North Negros, South Negros, and the Central Negros Clusters.

The North Negros Cluster opened its tournament on January 6 (Saturday) at the Don Edilberto B. Vocal Sr. Memorial Civic Center in the Municipality of Manapla, the host LGU for the North Negros Cluster. The event was graced by Gov. B**g Lacson, Manapla Manapla Mayor Manuel M. Escalante III, and Mr. Tony Agustin.

After the successful North Negros Local Qualifier, the ABANSE NEGRENSE – NBTC Basketball League South Negros Local Qualifier opened on January 7 (Sunday) at the Pontevedra Gymnasium. On behalf of Gov. Lacson, Mr. Tony Agustin led the program with Pontevedra SB Member Aurelio Garrita, SB Member Dan Perez, Pontevedra Municipal Sports Coordinator Mr. Romy Parpa, and Ms. Dency Grace Padillon (SGOD – Education Program Supervisor, SDO Negros Occidental).

Provincial Sports Office Head and Little League Philippines - Neg. Occ. Charter President Mr. Anthony Carlo Agustin joins the Negros Occidental Abanse Negrense Softball Team as they participated in the 2023 Little League Softball World Series in Lower Sussex, Delaware, USA.

The Governor's Cup Provincial Boxing Tournament (Finals) has finally concluded in Don Salvador Benedicto. Special thanks to DSB Mayor Lawrence Marxlen Dela Cruz, Vice Mayor Nehemiah Joe Dela Cruz and Sports Coordinator Mr. Wilson Real for allowing DSB to be the host venue of the championship. Also, thank you to Four Division World Champion and Longest Reining Filipino World Boxing Champion Mr. Donnie "Ahas" Nietes for gracing the event. This boxing tournament is part of the ABANSE NEGRENSE Sports Programs initiated by Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose V. Lacson, with the assistance of Provincial Sports Office Head Mr. Anthony Carlo Agustin.
