CONGRATULATIONS! The USLS Artists’ Hub and the Santermo Writers Guild extend our warmest congratulations to Raymundo T. Pandan Jr. on receiving the Gawad Pambansang Alagad ni Balagtas from the Unyon ng mga Manunulat sa Pilipinas—the country’s largest and most prestigious organization of Filipino writers.

Atty. Raymundo “Rayboy” T. Pandan Jr. is a writer, lawyer, humanist, and award-winning author. He won the Grand Prize for his novel "Bittersweetland" at the Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature in 2022, among many other recognitions for his work. He has served as the former Dean of the University of St. La Salle College of Law and as a panelist in several national literary workshops, including the IYAS La Salle National Writers Workshop.

In an afternoon of reflection and literary celebration, the University of St. La Salle Artists’ Hub with the Santermo Writers Guild hosted the launch of R. Torres Pandan’s novel Bittersweetland on September 23 at the Balay Kalinungan Lanai.

The gathering featured performances by the De La Salle Chorale, welcome remarks by Artists' Hub Director Ms. Tanya P. Lopez, and inspirational messages from Dr. Elsa Martinez Coscolluela, Atty. Rayfrando P. Diaz II, Hon. Greg G. Gasataya, and Hon. Mercedes Alvarez–Lansang. Highlights of the event included a reading by Ms. Rae Gella, a presentation of the author by Mr. Jonathan Davila, and closing reflections from Atty. Pandan himself.

The launch concluded with a book signing and cocktails accompanied by music from the De La Salle Vivace Strings—bringing together Lasallians, alumni, faculty, and friends of literature in a bittersweet celebration of words and memory.
