Turning over of 100K pesos that we have generated out our tournament to the VSU Alumni Scholarship Comittee by Brig Gen. Chito Bersaluna, Hon Rey Evangelista, Engr Ramon Barbosa and Mr Nemesio Belonias during the Awarding of VSU Outstanding Alumni Ceremonies. Thank you! Next project here we come.

Better late than never.

I am not against the noble purpose of fund raising to support poor but deserving students. However, I have this proposal a long time ago in one of the meetings of the Alumni during homecomings in the past, which is regularly done before the election of officers are held. My proposal was for the Alumni Asso. to adopt/sponsor the Men’s Varsity, raise funds for its recruitment, training, allowances for players, honorarium (if not wages) for coaches & trainers, so as to elevate the caliber of the VSU Varsity Team. We may not be able to duplicate or surpass the feat of other premier schools, but certainly we will be able to raise the caliber of the players which can be a good advertising tool also for the school. I have been watching the performance of the VSU basketball team in some of the tournaments that it participates, sad to say, more often than not, it gets eliminated right away. We don’t want this to be happening any further.

If this thing is not a priority of the school and its administrators, I think the Alumni Asso.can take the first step towards this direction. Wish ko lang!!
