From 250 student film submissions from both high school and college across the country, 25 student short films were selected for this year’s Sinag Maynila Independent Film Festival 2026.

Among these, 10 films were nominated for Best Film, and proudly, two of them are products of the HIFF Film Lab:

This milestone highlights the growing strength of student cinema and the remarkable talent of our young storytellers.

Congratulations to the HIFF FILMLAB short film “Cash Cash to Heaven”, directed by Veann Rein Francisco and written by Adam Nash Andrey, for being selected as a Finalist in the High School Category of Piling Obrang Video!

Piling Obrang Video, an annual interschool film festival organized by UP Cinema, provides a platform for young filmmakers from different schools to develop and showcase their stories.

As part of the selection, “Cash Cash to Heaven” will undergo a Post-Production Lab granted by the organization, where the film will be further developed and prepared for its final presentation.

Congratulations to the entire team behind the film for this milestone!

The HIFF FilmLab short films Under the Table and Hataw held their gala screening at the Sinag Maynila Independent Film Festival 2026.
The event was attended by the staff and crew of both films and was followed by a question-and-answer session with the moderator, where the filmmakers shared insights about their creative process and the stories behind their works.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sinag Maynila for providing this opportunity to showcase these films and celebrate the passion of emerging filmmakers.
