Congratulations to Tokerau Miro on winning the ‘Te Tahua a Rongo’ trophy for ‘Miro Grower of the Year 2020’. ‘Te Tahua a Rongo’ signifies the bounty of Rongomatāne, Atua of Cultivation and Peace.

Tokerau Miro is a collaboration at Ngati Kuri’s Waimarama orchard and te whanau Witehira to grow 5 hectares of blueberries as part of the Miro group.

As our inaugural winner, Tokerau Miro overcame the tyranny of distance, producing a bumper crop, early in the season, applying themselves diligently and almost obsessively to learning the art of technical growing of these blueberries, while constructing their orchards. They are dedicated to employing, training, and lifting up their people as well as orchard excellence.

Ka mau te wehi Tokerau Miro!
