ALL GOOD THINGS must come to an end. JOHN ROMAIN'S Mk. XI Spitfire has begun its 24,000km journey home to Duxford in the UK thanks to our mates from Mainfreight and MSC Shipping and also Callum Smith and his Twenty24 Team at Wanaka. We couldn't have done it without you guys.

WINNER, WINNER....

Congratulations to Alicia Peebles from Christchurch who on Friday morning became the 1 millionth visitor to the airshow. Alicia was attending her first airshow and when she returns in 2028 she'll be doing it in style with her 2 x Titanium passes as part of her prize pack.

Chelsea Quider visited our Aviation Alley exhibitors and ended up winning 2 x Gold Passes to our 40th Anniversary show in 2028 while Quinn Stewart (pictured) won a Tiger Moth flight with Peter Hendricks from NZ Flying Adventures.

Congratulations to all our winners...

😍 THANK YOU TO OUR AMAZING VOLUNTEERS 😍

A huge thank you to all of our fabulous volunteers who get out of bed at 5am on their Easter holidays, to the ground crews, the pilots and to the emergency services personnel that make Warbirds Over Wanaka possible.

An unbelievable amount of work goes on behind the scenes every Easter to get the airshow off the ground, and there would simply be no show without these amazing humans.

So, this Easter Sunday, give a voly a hug - or even better buy them a coffee or a hot dog! 🌭🍟🍔

You guys are all legends. Thank you 😍🙏

EASTER SUNDAY: WEATHER UPDATE AT 7:15AM

Currently dry with scattered low cloud around the hills at Wanaka Airport, and a chilly 9°C. Forecast is for the odd passing shower and cold Southerly breeze.

Bring lots of warm layers including a hat and gloves, plus a waterproof jacket. The show ground (grass) has dried out a wee bit over night, but it's still a bit muddy in places so gumboots or sturdy walking shoes recommended.

We may need to adjust the display schedule on the fly (haha) depending on the weather but the commentary team will keep you up to date with any changes.

We're all set for an EGG-citing Easter Sunday show. See you soon.... breakfast is waiting!

REMEMBER: Road closures apply between 7:30am - 11:30am and 3pm - 6pm to allow easy access / exit from the airshow.

SATURDAY SUMMARY

Well, as predicted by the local gurus the showers cleared by lunchtime today (phew!) but boy, it was cold! 🥶

If you're coming to the airshow tomorrow (Sunday) make sure you bring lots of warm clothes and maybe even a blanket too. Oh, and REMEMBER DAYLIGHT SAVINGS - clocks go back an hour, so we all get an extra hour in bed.

Well done to all the pilots and ground crew that pulled off an epic show in some challenging weather conditions. We hope you all enjoyed it.

Weather forecast for Sunday is looking better with occasional light showers, but with a cold southerly again. WRAP UP WARM, folks!...

CAR PARKING & DEPARTURE UPDATE (3pm - 6pm SAT & SUN)

Polite reminder: between 3pm and 6pm there are road closures on SH6 to allow double lanes of traffic movement for everyone to exit the airshow more efficiently. NZTA has advised that:

If you are in CAR PARK A, you can only exit onto SH6 towards Wanaka. (If you want to go in Luggate / Cromwell direction you'll need to head back towards Wanaka and follow the diversion via Albert Town / Camp Hill Road)

If you are in CAR PARK B, you can ONLY exit towards Wanaka on Mt Barker Road or onto SH6 towards Wanaka.

If you are in CAR PARK C, you can only exit towards Luggate / Cromwell (if you need to get to Wanaka you'll need to follow diversion via Red Bridge and Kane Road / Camp Hill Rd).

This ONLY applies between 3pm - 6pm. Thank you.
