For 15 years, Winter Games NZ has been more than just a competition—it’s been a launchpad for Olympic & Paralympic dreams and a proving ground for the world’s best. From its bold inception in 2009 to becoming a cornerstone of the international winter sports calendar, the Games have hosted history-making events.

Told through the voices of those who lived it—athletes who pushed their limits, organisers who built the event from the ground up, and visionaries who saw the potential in New Zealand’s alpine terrain.

Winter Games NZ, the largest snow sports event in the Southern Hemisphere, will no longer be held in its current format with adverse economic conditions impacting the financial viability of the event.

2024 WGNZ podium athletes have been on fire in the Northern Hemi so far!

Wānaka local carried his momentum from WGNZ, to finish in second in Chur and Queenstown legend claimed her 11th World Cup podium in Sölden 💪🏼

(at just 17!) has snagged herself two more Big Air World Cup podiums, while big bro ._.taba finished in 2nd in Beijing. has also brought home hardware from Beijing, taking the big W 🏆

It’s hard to believe that it has almost been a month since we wrapped up the 2024 edition of Winter Games NZ!

We would like to take moment to acknowledge and thank our Corporate Partners, Funding Partners, Venue Partners, Supplier Partners and Strategic Partners 🤝

It’s thanks to their generous support that we are able to continuously and successfully hold Winter Games NZ, the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest snow sports event!

Although summer may be just around the corner down here in New Zealand, our Team has already got Winter Games NZ 2025 planning well and truely underway, we can’t wait to see you all again soon! ❄️🩵

The first World Cup competition of the 2024/25 FIS Freeski season is in the books, with Eileen Gu setting a new Freeski World Cup record with her 15th career victory, and Brendan Mackay returning to the top of the podium for the first time since Jan 2022 with the men’s W!

A birthday podium for Rachael Karker, a first career World Cup top-3 for Andrew Longino…it turned into a pretty special day in some tough conditions out there Cardrona Alpine Resort, NZ!
