Well that wraps up the Waihou Pre-Season Open Fishing Competition for 2026. We had an amazing turnout, with 350 tickets sold and 171 fish weighed in. Congratulations to all our category winners.

We wouldn't be able to host our awesome event if it wasn't for the extremely generous support of our sponsors, a HUGE thank you to you all.

We hope that everyone who entered and attended prizegiving had a blast, we sure did and we look forward to seeing you all back again next year.

A massive thank you to everyone that entered our annual fishing Competition over the weekend.

There were some awesome fish weighed in with the majority of them coming out of the Coromandel.

Congratulations on all the winners and we hope to see you all again next year.

We have limited to 400 tickets this year and we have already sold over 250.

This year we are running a best photo competition for a $200.00 Bottle O voucher up for grabs.

Upload your best fishing photo and the one with the most likes it has by 6 pm Sunday night will win.
If it's a tie the vouchers will be split

There will be tickets available on Sunday afternoon at the Clubrooms to go into the draw for $30,000.00 worth of spot prizes unless sold previously.

ATTENTION - There are only 6 days left to get your fishing tickets with it being capped at 400 tickets this year so don't miss out.

We have over $29,000 in Adult spot prizes with a further $14,000 in Adult fishing prizes.

All kids under 14 are free to enter the fresh water fishing section for Eels, Carp and Trout with over $2,000 in fishing prizes and $3,000 in spot prizes.

All kids aged 13 and under don't have to weigh a fish in they just enter their name at the Clubrooms on the day to be eligible for spot prizes.

All eels weighed in must be alive and released afterwards.

Afternoon all

Tickets will go on sale from Monday 23 February 2026 and will be able to be purchased from Stanley Ave Dairy, AgPlus, Waihou Rugby Clubrooms, Tony Vincent, David Wood, Ashley Haddon and Aaron Haddon.

The competition starts 5am Friday 13 March and runs til 5pm Sunday 15 March. Weigh in will run from 3.00pm to 5.00pm on 15 March. You must be in the line by 4.59pm.

No fishing tickets will be sold after midnight on 12 March 2026.

There will be tickets available at the bar on Sunday 15 March to be eligible for the spot prizes.

We have over $40,000.00 in prizes.

There are a couple of rule changes this year.

As always the kids section is free to enter, you do not need to purchase a ticket. The kids section is from the age of 13 and under.

To be eligible to win any of the main adult spot prizes you have to be aged 14 and over.

Tickets cost $40.00 each and you may buy more than one ticket per person.
