We would like to thank our sponsors, OceanaGold Waihi, Creative Communities Hauraki and the Lions Club of Waihi. Arts in Town was a great success.

Of course it wouldn't have happened without the stallholders. A special thanks to those that ran workshops, make-and-take projects and demonstrations. The feedback from attendees was that they really enjoyed the interaction. We've received some lovely emails from stallholders too. It seems that it went both ways!

But ultimately, there is no show without an audience. Thank you to everyone who braved the weather and came out to enjoy the experience.

What a fantastic day we had at Arts in Town on Saturday. Thank you to Steel'n Beats for bringing the sounds of the Caribbean and, if not the Caribbean weather, tolerable weather! Thank you to Hauraki District Council for their sponsorship of the band through the Creative Communities funding.

Yes, never mind the weather, we are still on! We will be dry and comfortable inside the Waihi Memorial Hall doing crafty and arty things, Saturday 11th April from 10am to 4pm. Find a gap in the weather to head down to Waihi Town Cats to see Kim demo how to make these lovely fairy houses.

Have you made a bookworm yet? This is a competition for kids to make a bookworm (bookmark with eyes). Bring in your bookworm to Books on Seddon on Saturday and you could win something. Public vote, so adults, get upstairs and vote for your favourite.

Two more activites to bring to you at Arts in Town on the 11th April at the Waihi Memorial Hall.

Tina is offeriing a make-and-take. Come and see all her wonderful wares and have a go at painting a ceramic coaster. No booking necessary. Make one or a set of four. There is a small cost for this project.

Then we are very fortunate to have two very experienced and talented face painters. Here's a bit about them.

Hi my name is Gudrun, my small business is Party in the Bay and I have been facepainting over 7 years in and around the Katikati area, providing bright and colorful faces at birthday parties, local markets and community events. After being a beauty therapist for 30 odd years I love the creativity and freedom facepainting brings to turn faces into those of a tiger, butterfly or puppydog. The joy it brings when they get to look in the mirror at their face, makes it such an awesome and satisfying job, how could you not love it!

Lillybeth's face painting is full of character and love for colour. She’s been painting almost as long as she’s been a makeup artist - 16 years! Try your hand at cardmaking with Geraldine. This workshop will be in her shop, Tutto, so book your workshop at the shop. Each class will last half an hour, cost $4, times between 10am and 1pm. So lots of opportunities. Get in there and book your class. All material are supplied.
