Tūwharetoa Mārae Sports Day 1 -

Firstly a big mihi to our Marae Reps for their mahi to get their team registrations in on time ☺️

Today was about whakawhanaungatanga and whānau you were out in force ❤️❤️ - it was so good to see.

We would like to mihi and say thank you ☺️ too…

🙏Our Marae who travelled to be here (even though it was only for a few hours)

🙏The Turangi Swimming Club for coordinating our first ever swimming and bombing event.

🙏 Our Rereao Kapa Haka for coordinating our first Pakeke Wharewhare event and to Te Kura o Hirangi for providing kai.

🙏 Te Kapua Whakapipi - who supported our Tamariki Scavenger Hunt & cooked our free sausages for our tamariki and whānau.

🙏 To Waihi Marae for coordinating Iwi fit and Peak Fitnesss for allowing us to use your gym..

🙏and to Management, staff and lifeguards at the Turangi Turtle Pools and Taupo District Council for allowing us to book this space for our whanau to use for free.

These events would not be possible if not for you all

TŪWHARETOA MARAE SPORTS 2024

DAY 2 of Marae Sports will commence on the 13th of January this Saturday at Tūrangitukua Park‼️

Timings are subject to change so please arrive at the venue on time to start at 8:30am‼️

Ānei ngā whakaritenga mō te rā tuarua:

- Marae Reps to confirm registrations by 8:30 so we can finalize draws.
- First up at 8:45am - Warm up exercises for Whānau Relay.
- 9am - Tānga Whānau (Whānau Relay)
- 9:30 - Panga-a-Iwi (Iwi Quiz)

- Debriefing with all Sports Coordinators will be at 9:30am.

FOLLOWING THE IWI QUIZ THESE SPORTS WILL START FROM 10AM‼️

- Pā Pōro (Touch)🏃‍♂️
- Poirewa (Volleyball)🏐
- Whakaupa (Pétanque)🚶‍♀️
- Purei Kāri (Euchre)♦️
- Whakarau Kingi (Chess)♟️
- Whutupōro (Junior Ripper ONLY ages 5-10)🏉

…AND THESE SPORTS FROM 10:30am‼️

All sports will be concluded by 5PM with a closing Karakia‼️

E rere ana ngā mihi maioha ki ngā marae maha ō Ngāti Tūwharetoa e kaha tautoko ana i tēnei kaupapa whakahirahira.

KIA ORA TĀTOU TE WHĀNAU

We will be kicking off DAY 1 on the 12th of January this Friday at Te Kapua Park/Turtle Pools.

Ānei ngā whakaritenga mo te rā tuatahi :

KARAKIA STARTS AT 4PM‼️

- Comfirmation/Registrations for all activities will open from 4pm-4:30pm.

- Tamariki Scavenger Hunt (under 8s) will start after Karakia at our newly developed papa takaro 🛝

All activities āpopo will look to start at 4:45pm once registrations close.

- Iwifit💪- Peak Fitness.
- Pākeke Wharewhare (60 pax max)- Senior Citizens Hall🏨
- Pool Replays🏊‍♀️ (Teams of 4) - Turtle Pools.
- Bombing Competition🌊 - Turtle Pools.

- A Free BBQ will be provided at 5:30pm

The afternoon activities will conclude by 7PM‼️

KEEP IN MIND your Marae representative have registered numbers but we still need confirmation before the draw is finalised to make the event flow effortlessly.

So please make sure you are on time ready to roll‼️
