We’re always on the look-out for creative social media marketing ideas. This one had me reading to the end. We had to read it because we couldn’t work out why a post for a business-to-business service started with a comment about buying swimming togs…

I see you. Dreading the day, quite soon, when it's time to get new swimming togs.

"If I won Lotto, could I pay someone to do that task for me?"

"... I wouldn't think so, nahhhh"

But there are tasks you CAN hand over.

Start by making a list of the tasks that are NOT what you love doing in your business day to day.

The ones that make you feel drained and exhausted.

If those can be done by someone else, then they are definitely NOT how you should be spending your valuable time.

☀️ Social media
☀️ Creating stuff in Canva
☀️ Sorting receipts and invoices
☀️ General admin.

Think about a universe where a good virtual assistant takes those things off your plate for even 3 to 5 hours a week. How that lightens the mental load you're carrying.

How it frees you up to focus on:
⭐️ what you love doing
⭐️ what maximises revenue.

How it frees you up for a million December things.

Being tongue-tied at your partner's work BBQ.

Buying swimming togs.

Using a blunt sellotape dispenser with one hand.

If you can't wait to run to that togs aisle, you should talk to me.

Happy 10th birthday to our Kiosk Feature! Hatched on 4 July 2014, the kiosk started as a roll-call view and attendance register for trainers and event hosts. Our software has been upgraded often since then and it has has grown to include assessment, trainer time-sheet and ticket scanning modules. Bet you can't wait to see what's coming next.

The 1st of April marks the first day of Autism Acceptance Month!

We’re proud to celebrate this important month and bring you heaps of exciting content for all of April.

We’ve got some great discussions, interviews and posts to share, as well as the Nationwide Quiet Hour for on April 10th, at 10am!

You’ll hear from members of the Autistic and wider Autism communities, watch videos and livestreams from a range of experts and see an exciting initiative launch.

This is also an important month for advocacy and to work hard to create change, so we have meetings lined up with politicians and change-makers to move the conversation around what the Autistic community needs forward.

The theme for the UN’s global Autism Acceptance day is ‘From Surviving to Thriving’, which is exactly what we work for and celebrate.

So watch this space, stay tuned, join in, and let’s have an incredible Autism Acceptance Month 2024!

Are you thinking of setting up a new book club and looking for inspiration? Or, do you already have an established club but are tired of struggling to find enough copies of the designated book for you to all read it at the same time? Whichever camp you’re in, we are excited beyond words to share the news that, from tomorrow, we now offer Book Club Kits! 😊

Our Book Club Kits are free to borrow and consist of ten copies of the same book, prompt questions to start your book club discussion, an information sheet explaining how it all works, and a numbered sheet you can use to record who has each book. There is a selection of popular titles to choose from, and new titles are added regularly! Some of the current titles available are: Yellowface by Rebecca Kuang, Bookbinder of Jericho by Pip Williams, Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister, and Better the Blood by Michael Bennett, to name a few!

How it works:
From tomorrow, you’ll be able to find titles on the library catalogue by searching ‘Tauranga Book Club’ in the title or general field. Available titles can be borrowed for six weeks (no renewals) and are first in first served (no holds). One book club member is responsible for checking out and returning the Book Club Kit to Te Ao Mārama - Tauranga Library (it will show as one issue on their library account) and they will also be responsible for any lost or damaged books (no pressure!).

We will roll this out to the other community libraries, but for now, kits are collected from Te Ao Mārama - Tauranga Library only and must be returned to Te Ao Mārama - Tauranga Library during opening hours, as they can’t be returned through the after-hours slot.

We are so happy to be able to offer these kits to local book clubs. The age-old problem of sourcing enough copies of a book to go around might just be over!
🥳

Hoodies are live!!

Purchase your tees and hoodies from SAS Sport at https://www.sas.co.nz/product-category/charity/autism-nz-charity

Why hoodies? Many members of the Autistic community use hoodies to reduce sensory input. Plus our hoodies and t-shirts are super soft and very comfy, which can also be helpful for those with sensory sensitivities.

$10 from every hoodie and $5 from every t-shirt sold goes directly to Autism NZ, so we can continue our work empowering the Autistic and wider Autism communities. Without your support, this work cannot continue, so we are so grateful for your contribution and getting involved in this fundraising drive!

Please share this post and tell your friends, family, colleagues and community about these comfortable, soft and stylish hoodies and t-shirts.

There will be lots more information on how to hold a event to come - first step is to get your hoodie to wear on the day!

If you have any questions, please DM us or email [email protected]

We wondered why the state highway near our office was closed in Friday afternoon. Never imagined a 4m x 4m tomo. Sounds like the traffic will be flowing again soon. Phew.

State Highway 29A hole update: Roadworkers are now in the process of rebuilding SH29A in Tauranga after we closed it following the discovery of a hole beneath the road on Friday afternoon. They'll work through the night so it's open tomorrow morning, in time for peak travel.

The four-metre deep and four-metre wide hole was at least 11 metres long, stretching across the width of the road. The hole was caused by the failure of a stormwater drain which likely occurred some time ago. Water leaking out eroded the land under the road.

Roadworkers worked around the clock to replace 38 metres of stormwater pipe, which required them digging up the whole road as you can see in the photos below. They’ve now backfilled the trench and are rebuilding the road.

You won’t be driving over the final asphalt seal when the road reopens tomorrow morning, but the road will be surfaced. We’ll have traffic management in place and a reduced speed limit of 50km/h.

Thanks to those who avoided travelling this morning if they could—we wanted anyone who absolutely had to travel to could get through without extended delays.

We really appreciate your patience while roadworkers completed these urgent repairs, and want to give a big thanks to the workers for their quick work to get the road back open!

TMS Teletrac Navman Technology | Maintenance | Safety Conference & Exhibition Scholarship Announced

Scholarship opportunities have been announced for the TMS Teletrac Navman Technology | Maintenance | Safety Conference and Exhibition by the NZ Trucking Association (NTA) and the National Road Carriers Association (NRC). The TMS Event Scholarship aims to facilitate and support the attendance of young industry talent at the event.

NZ Trucking Association (NTA) CEO David Boyce encourages companies to nominate staff members who could benefit from this scholarship opportunity. Not only does the scholarship cover event costs, but it also signals a commitment to investing in their development and success.

The TMS Event Scholarship is open to top apprentices, technicians, H&S representatives, engineers, dispatch representatives, and others who are relatively new to the industry or show growth potential. The main requirement is a desire to further themselves or benefit from exposure to the event.

There are only 25 free 2-day TMS Event Scholarship delegate passes available, valued at $299+GST each. Sponsored attendees must attend both days with a paid delegate from the same company. Interested individuals can apply now by contacting [email protected].
