The Moa Experience Welcome to the Moa Experience 2021, a trail running/walking event in Papamoa, Tauranga. Join us on Sunday 17th October for the 2021 Moa Experience.

With breath taking views and stunning New Zealand bush, The Moa Experience is a MUST in everyone's calendar.. Showcasing the Papamoa Hills and Summerhill Farm in the beautiful Bay of Plenty, this is an adventure not to be missed! The area is rich in history and cultural significance and offers participants incredible panoramic views of the Bay of Plenty. All three courses take you through a variet

y of running terrain including pine forests, creek crossings, open farmland and stunning New Zealand bush. This is a challenging course with some technical elements, designed to give you the full Moa Experience. On leaving Summerhill car park participants will take the popular walking track through open farmland over to Papamoa Hills. From here you descend and head into the less well known tracks of Papamoa Hills. After this you will climb to Papamoa Hills Trig at 224m and head into mountain bike park over in Summerhill Farm. This is a technical single track section which showcases New Zealand’s stunning bush, creeks and forest. From here the 15km course continues through to the other side of Summerhill Farm, giving you some of the best views in the Bay. Both courses finish with a bush section in the mountain bike park and one final push back up to the car park area where you started and where your unique Moa Experience finisher’s medal will be waiting for you!

The Moa Experience was generously gifted to the Te Puke Harriers in 2021 to showcase the beautiful Summerhill and Papamoa Trails whilst encouraging participants and families to lead active lives.

After having to cancel the 2021 event due to the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, the committee is no longer in a position where we can deliver participants the experience they deserve. Please understand that this was a difficult decision for us to make.

If you have registered for the 2021 or 2022 event, a refund will be issued over the next couple of weeks.

We unfortunately have to announce that due to the circumstances surrounding Covid-19 coupled with the uncertainty of future events, The Moa Experience for 2021 has been cancelled.

Great news is that we have secured a new date of 16th October 2022.

If you have registered for 2021 we will be offering refunds or you can let your registration stand for the 2022 event.

Congratulations to Kunaal Rajpal and Juanita McConnell , our first male and female for 15km Moa Run. Simon Butler and Sarka McMullan were our first male and female 15km walkers. Azrael Cabusao and Sinead Arts, our first male and female for 8km Mini Moa Run. Seton Davis and Jade Riddington were our first male and female walkers 🥇
