Harley-Lujah Christmas Ride

Thanks very much to everyone that attended today. Was a great day and so awesome seeing the smiles on some kids faces.

We did have some attention from the local police, who were awesome by the way, once they found out the reason for the ride and we explained what we were doing

Some members of the public were so concerned seeing a group of Harley’s all together that they felt the need to call it in!

We did have some riders directing traffic at roundabouts yes, the reason was to keep the group together and keep our speed to just under the speed limit to create an enjoyable experience for the kids on the ride.
If we had become separated it takes away from the whole atmosphere and experience for the kids
This was done in a safe a courteous manner

We stuck to the built up Mount Maunganui Papamoa area because these kids had never been on a motorcycle before and we didn’t want to go on any roads with a higher limit that 50km per hour
This was for their safety and also we didn’t want to scare any of them

After the ride we went back to Papamoa Domain for a BBQ and soft drinks for the kids with the friendly local constable as lead es**rt. Big thanks there.

Has to be said it’s pretty sad some people felt threatened by that. I feel sorry for you really and hope such people take a moment to think next time they see a group of bikers. The are often raising money and/or helping those less fortunate

To the community Please realise not everyone who rides a Harley is a gang member or anything you need to worry about.

This was about creating something special for some kids at Christmas and giving them an experience they may not have otherwise ever had.

Bring on our next ride in 2025. Bigger and better!

Hey all
A reminder the ride is tomorrow (Saturday) 10am Gordon Spratt reserve
Ride will be heading down ocean beach road following the ocean right down to the Mount and pilot bay, up through Mount Main Street heading back to Papamoa domain for a sausage and bread and a drink.
You will pick your kids up from the BBQ and leave from there
Parents need to stay at this event.
This is not a drop the kids and leave scenario

If you have been notified that your child is having a ride on a motorcycle please ensure they have long pants and a long top as well as closed in footwear.
They will not be allowed to ride without this
Motorcycle helmets will be provided.
Those going in cars/hot rods can wear what they like 🙂
The cars/hotrods are for younger kids or those that can not go on bikes first and foremost.
We also have a Harley trike attending!

Please note the kids that have been told they have a spot take priority, after that if we have seats available we will take some extras on the day 🙂

This ride will be sedate and at 50km. This is about creating an enjoyable experience that these kids will remember for years to come

All riders are experienced and have been riding for years.
However it needs to be said while we take all the care in the world you do this at your own risk.

Feel free to come along either with kids or bring your bike or cool car.

NOMINATIONS WANTED

Ok, we are back for 2024!

We weren’t able to do this for a couple of years with the whole COVID thing, then a few other things got in the way but we are still passionate about making sure kids have a great Christmas

Together with Peak Photography Ltd and Fenech Lawns and Gardens we are bringing the Harley-Lujah Christmas ride back.

Ride will take place Saturday December 7th leaving from Gordon sprat reserve at 11am
This ride is around the Tauranga, Papamoa, Mount Maunganui area and aims to give some kids that have had a tough year either through circumstance or illness a ride on a Harley or a ride in a hotrod, hot car V8 etc
Helmets provided
We stick to 50/70km roads and all riders have years of experience.
For kids that for any reason can’t go on a motorcycle they can choose a car instead.

We now need nominations for kids to attend and take part.

The amount of kids we can take will depend on bikes and cars we have available

So if you have a motorcycle, hot car, hotrod, V8 etc please message this page.

We are also looking for other sponsors, doesn’t have to be big, maybe gifts for the kids that sort of thing.

Need your help to help a young 18 year old cancer patient here in Tauranga.
I don’t know them personally, but have seen their story and spoken to them and decided I can help.
Tia-Jayne is only 18, same age as my daughter and is in a fight with a rare and aggressive cancer 😢

Hi Everyone
We are looking for kids to take part in this years Harley Lujah ride in December!
This is our 3rd year running this event

Please send us a message through this page with nominations.
We are looking for kids who have had a hard time for one reason or another.
Financial, health wise, bullied, etc
Please tell us a bit about them and why you are nominating them.
If sitting on a Harley is an issue we will have hot rods and classic cars available too and even 1 or 2 trike harleys
We will provide helmets for all the kids.
Limited spaces available

Also looking for bikes and cars to take part in the ride as well as local sponsorship.
If you own a business and would like to help towards this very worthy cause please message us!

At this stage we are looking at Saturday December 18th meeting at Gordon Sprat Reserve at 11am
The ride will be through 50km roads down the along the water to the Mount.

Prezzies and lunch for the kids will be provided.

We are starting to plan this years ride which will be in December, exact date will be confirmed at a later date

2. We are looking for nominations for kids who have had a hard time of late to take part and have a ride on a bike or in a hot car.

As per past years we will be doing a local safe ride with the kids in 50KM roads and supplying them with lunch and some gifts afterwards. Of course we will be supplying helmets for all kids that take part.
