🚨 THE HUKA RIVER SWIM IS BACK 🚨

…and we are bringing back the “EXTREME”.

You keep asking about it so we’re taking things to a whole new level in 2027.

This time, the course won’t just finish near the falls…
we’re going straight over the Huka Falls 🌊🚀

We’ll be leaving the river at FULL FLOW for this one making it the fastest swim by far you’ll ever do ⚡️

Registration is open and ready to go down here at gates park.

Coffee avalible at start and finishline.

Note busses will leave sharp from the road site entrance to Hipapatua Recreational Reserve at 8:30am and 9:00am.

Huka River Swim – Postponement Update

Following our recent postponement, we have now worked closely with all key stakeholders and are pleased to confirm a new event date:

🗓 Sunday 1 March 2026
⏰ 10:00am Start

We understand that a new date may not suit everyone, so we apologise but we were very limited on dates.

All registered participants will receive an email later today outlining options if you can't make the new event date. Please wait for this email prior to contacting us.

You will have until 5:00pm Sunday 22nd February to confirm your decision.

Anyone who is able to make this new date will be automatically transferred to the new event date on 1 March, you don't need to do anything further.

Depending on availability of entries, we may open up additional entries via our waitlist, subject to availability. You can join the waitlist here if you haven't already.

We know many of you are eager for news about a potential new event date, and we appreciate everyone's patience.

We are actively working through options to secure a postponement date for the Huka River Swim. However, as this process involves coordination with several key stakeholders, we are awaiting feedback and confirmations before we can provide an update.

With it being the weekend, it means we may need a little more time to work through the necessary approvals and logistics.

Please know we are doing everything we can behind the scenes to find a solution and will communicate an update as soon as we have confirmed information to share.

Good morning everyone.

Thank you all for the continued support and understanding of today's cancellation of the event. Putting safety first, the event couldn't take place in the river this weekend as the rain continues to fall across the region and Lake Taupo control gates must remain open.

For those who were entered in the race, we will provide more updates on any potential postponement options as we work through this over the weekend, and will be in touch as soon as we can.

All entrants for the 2026 event have been emailed a special offer from our friends at the Kinloch Triathlon Festival, which is taking place over the weekend. So if you have travelled to Taupo for the weekend, there is still an option to get involved in a local event if you wish.
