Human v Horse made it into the fantastic knowledge base of Wikipedia! Yay!!

The Man versus Horse Marathon is an annual race over 22 miles (35 km), where runners compete against riders on horseback.[1][2] The race — which is a shorter distance than an official marathon road race — takes place in the Welsh town of Llanwrtyd Wells every June. There are other Man versus Ho...

Human v Horse 2018 is fast beoming an adventure race with a reputation... for being tough. This year Don Sagar on board Wai Totara Moonstar walked away with the fastest time over the 42km course, with Sandy McCuan and Mizraim Silver Gym taking out the fastest time in the inaugrual 21km event.

Last year saw the 42km event completed at the Pukeokahu venue in a time of 03:50:12 by Eunice Algie with the fastest Runner (Stu Milne) coming in 33 minutes and 18 seconds behind. This year Don Sagar completed the new course in a time of 03:26:58 with Nick Johnston being our fastest runner. His time of 03:58:35 is remarkably close to last years fastest riders time....... and just 31 minutes and 37 seconds behind the winner!

Ohinewairua - you rocked it. Human v Horse 2018 did not disappoint. A quick run down of the top three placings for both the 21km and the 42km races, with a bigger write up to follow....

In the 42km event -

Third place was taken by our fastest runner - newcomer Nick Johnston in a time of 03:58:35. Crazily, this was just 31 minutes and 37 seconds behind the fastest horse and rider across the finish line.

In second place came Maureen Davie, our 2016 HvH winner onboard the same horse in a time of 03:27:05. She was hot on the heels of our overall winner - Don Sagar in a time of 03:26:58. Just seven seconds between first and second!

In the 21km event -

Third and second place both went to runners, with just one horse in front of them. Paul Hawkes took out third place in a time of 02:41:49.

Second place went to Nick White in a time of 02:27:20, and first was taken out by Sandy McCuan leading 29 minutes and fourteen seconds with a sub two hour time of 01:58:06.

A huge congratulations to our winners and to everyone who took part - it was tough. All results will be posted in the morning, but after a long day of unmarking the trails and unforeseen adventures, its time to turn out the lights.
