To acknowledge the next phase of the cycle, we must embrace the hibernation period, which emphasizes the importance of slowing down, resting, and engaging in deep introspection.

RestivalNZ 2026 artist spotlight continues ✨

Mema Wilda and Nathan brought such a dynamic, heartfelt energy to the Restival stage. Their blend of folk rock and soul , especially hearing Mema sing in her mother tongue, was a true highlight for us and a moment to remember.

We’re so grateful to have shared that experience with them.
A special thank you as well for the commitment behind the scenes: making the drive all the way from Leigh and, even more meaningfully, Mema choosing to spend her birthday with us that night. That meant a lot 🥰

Grateful for you both ❤️‍🔥

Another amazing artist in the spotlight, sharing his gifts, bringing the moves and grooves, freedom songs flowing through the field, accompanied by his sons Nikau and Manu and beloved Laquita

Matiu Te Huki brought uplifting, rhythmic energy to the stage, weaving his magic through every beat and melody. His presence was electric, his connection with the crowd deeply felt, and the music carried a sense of joy, freedom, and unity.

Deep gratitude for your presence and the gentleness you shared in the field at Restival 2026, steady, soulful, and full of heart.

He will be on tour in Australia soon, follow his journey right here on this channel -

Putting a spotlight on the incredible musical talents who shared their gifts and waiata here at Restival 2026

Despite having to pivot and navigate the storm, we found a space to anchor into, and from there, magick unfolded. There’s so much respect and reverence for each artist, despite the warnings, an intimate setting grounded in presence and a deep sense of belonging.

Tukana Kaya brought her mystical enchantment all the way from Whāingaroa, Karioi, accompanied by bro Nikau. Tukana opened our whati oro space, setting a beautiful and powerful tone. As the children created art, we listened, sang, and were carried by the music together.

Ngā mihi sis for your mauri aroha and your presence , deeply felt and truly appreciated.

Restival NZ has been an absolutely amazing community effort with support coming in from everyone.
An update to say...
We are safe and dry and we have starlink so when we have power, we are contactable. We had a 2 hour power cut this morning. We have tonnes of fresh water, as the pump doesn't work when the power is off. We have gas cooker and hearts full of Aroha. Big ups to all of our wonderful supportive attendees and contributors.
We love you ❤️
