Entrepreneur Coffee Jam || Tuesday 13 October || 0700 - 0900 || Mountain Club Beach Street

If early mornings are your sweet spot for big thinking and better coffee, this one’s for you. Coffee Jam is back in partnership with Startup Queenstown Lakes. It’s designed for local founders, creatives and anyone shaping what’s next, and it’s a chance to connect without the pressure and start the day with conversations that count.

Startup Queenstown Lakes is covering the first 50 coffees, and we’ll be serving up three quickfire talks from local entrepreneurs. Each speaker gets five minutes to share what they’re building and why it matters, followed by a short Q&A to share asks, offers and ideas.

Lunch & Learn: Go-to-Market E-Commerce || Wednesday, 14 October | 1230-1330 | Mountain Club Five Mile

Jessie Healy doubled Mons Royale’s direct-to-consumer revenue as their Head of eCommerce Growth, and now runs Ecomm Rockets, buying Meta and Google ads for brands like Wonky Box, Videris Lingerie and Tony’s Chocolonely.

At this Lunch & Learn she’ll share how she picks the right ad channels for a brand, tells when ad spend is actually working, and decides whether to run ads yourself or bring in help, the same system she builds for physical product brands from newly launched through to high eight figures.

Small group, limited to 12. Bring a project and your laptop.

MC x Snow Machine VIP Artist Speaker Series is now live on The Mountain Club Podcast.

Snow Machine’s first ever edition happened in Japan in March 2020, the week the world went into lockdown. Five years on, it pulls over 6,000 Australians to Queenstown every year.

In our latest Mountain Club Podcast episode, Australian TV and radio presenter Danny Clayton sits down with NICKA, illy, and 𝗣𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗻 for a hilarious, raw conversation on live music, festival culture, and what makes Snow Machine last.

NICKA spent two decades in television news and weather (you may regognise him from the iconic Gold Coast Skeg Reports) before becoming a DJ. illy is an ARIA Award-winning rapper and one of Australia’s most beloved hip hop artists. 𝗣𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗻 has photographed every one of Snow Machine’s ten editions, and been a part of the festival’s growth and journey from the start. Together they trace the festival back to its nearly-cancelled first edition, unpack why Snow Machine keeps growing while other festivals fold, and debate AI’s place in an industry built on live experience.

Thank you Danny, Nick, Illy, and Pat for the stories and the great chats, and thank you to everyone who sat in the audience and asked the big questions. This is a hilarious, insider listen on live music, festival culture, and the Snow Machine story. Find The Mountain Club Podcast on Spotify, Apple and YouTube - Link in our bio.

Mental Landscapes is the first New Zealand solo show from CABNOV, an international artist whose work has been shown at art fairs and exhibitions across the US and Asia. Members are invited to the exclusive Collector & Invited Preview the night before the public opening, with a first look at the work and the chance to enquire about or reserve pieces before anyone else. Early access to the exhibition catalogue is available now in our Slack channel.

COMING UP IN OCTOBER

October starts with our monthly AI Meet-Up, a space for open conversation on what’s emerging and what’s actually working. We’re then back at Coronet for The Final Ski Tour of the season, followed by coffee and a BBQ at the base, before w**emaker Yannick Fourbet pours his organic Central Otago w**es at our Tasting Session with Domaine Rewa - P Fourbet, bringing along his ceramics as The French Potter. Run and Recover follows with a social 7km run from Five Mile with Alexander McCall, then recovery with Rest & Rise Energy and Sauna at O-Studio Queenstown.

Mid-month, Entrepreneur Coffee Jam is back with Startup Queenstown Lakes, an early start for founders and creatives with quickfire talks from local entrepreneurs. Jessie Healy then runs a small-group Lunch & Learn on e-commerce advertising, sharing the system she used to double Mons Royale’s direct-to-consumer revenue.

Later in the month, James Bayly, former co-founder and CTO of 8AI, leads the first of a four-part AI Series Workshop for engineers and tech leads building agents and automated workflows into how they ship code. We welcome Mora Wines for a tasting session, and fivemilecentre comes alive for the After Hours Night Market. The Arts Hole has invited members to the collector preview of Mental Landscapes, the first New Zealand solo exhibition by international artist CABNOV. We’re then on the bikes for the Kawarau Gorge Trail Opening Ride with , an exciting day out on the bikes with shuttles included.

REFORM QUEENSTOWN and the WATERSHED SAUNAS keep their weekly rhythm, and watch this space for weekly MTB rides starting soon.

A month for learning something new, getting outside and meeting a few more good people. Not a member yet? We’d love to show you around. Reach out to [email protected] to find out more. 300+ events a year. Global network. Brilliant people.

The past fortnight at Mountain Club.

Global member James Cooper has been jet setting across the globe in his LEGACYLAND x Mountain Club merch, most recently spotted in Hollywood.

At Five Mile, Bindy Griffin, VP Growth Marketing at Nexl, ran the next AI Series workshop on managing brand in the age of AI, walking through the copywriting Claude plugin her team is trialling ahead of an org wide rollout. The small group worked through their own pain points and wins for keeping brand alignment, and shared how they’re each using AI to help.

Then a Women’s Sauna Day at WATERSHED SAUNAS, an hour set aside for the women in our community to slow down, plunge into Lake Whakatipu, and get to know each other better, followed by our Cross Country Ski day at Snow Farm NZ, complete with a lesson, a full day on the trails, and lunch at the historic Meadows Hut before the Cardrona Pub. An epic and hilarious day out on the skis.

Rifters brought their small batch gin, wh**ky and vodka to Beach Street for a tasting session, a great evening swapping the usual w**e for some tasty spirits. To close out the week, Nicole Perez from Nicole Perez | Queenstown Nurse Injector joined us to bust myths on injectables and skincare, with everyone walking away with an incredible depth of knowledge and goodie bags.

In case you missed it, Beach St Cafe is now open Sundays too, so your favourite coffee is there seven days a week.

Tasting session with Domaine Rewa - P Fourbet || Thursday, 8 October | 1730-1900 | Mountain Club Beach Street

Join us for an intimate evening with Yannick Fourbet, who takes us through his Central Otago Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Riesling. For the past 25 years he’s nurtured his 10-hectare organic single-vineyard estate, and outside the vineyard he makes ceramics as The French Potter, bringing along his work to showcase on the night.

This evening is a combination of art, great w**e and stories of the land and craft by the w**e maker himself. Complimentary for members, guests welcome with a $20 donation to the MC community fund.

A big thank you to Nicole Perez, founder of Nicole Perez | Queenstown Nurse Injector, for leading The Truth About Injectables at Mountain Club, a no-judgment session busting myths about what toxins and fillers actually do.

The biggest takeaway: natural doesn’t automatically mean safe, and synthetic doesn’t mean dangerous. Safety comes down to dose, purity, how a product is given and who’s holding the needle. A good injector takes a full history, explains the risks and is willing to say no.

It was a great chance to ask an expert the questions people usually leave to Google, and we all walked away with an incredibly generous goodie bag, prizes and a heap of new knowledge. Thanks again Nicole!

Run and Recover || Friday, 9 October || 1200-1400 || Mountain Club Five Mile

Running is better with company, and so is the recovery afterwards. Alexander McCall is an avid ultra marathon runner, and he’s leading a relaxed, social-paced 7km group run from MC Five Mile.

The run finishes at O-Studio Queenstown, where you’ll try Alex’s Rest & Rise Energy products for recovery, before owner of O-Studio tonyensor shows you around. This includes the first look of their brand new Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber, before everyone finishes their recovery together with a group sauna.

It’s a good chance to meet other members who like getting outside, and you don’t need to be a serious runner. Complimentary for members, with only 8 spaces.
