Queen & King of the Bay

Queen & King of the Bay Queen & King of the Bay is a ocean paddling surfski event in the Tasman region This event is part of the Darcy Price NZ Ocean surfski series. This race is 18km.

Queen & King of the Bay was first established in 2009 and is the South Island's longest running surfski race. In 2023, the event will be in it's 15th year and will be held on the 28th - 29th January 2023. The Queen & King of the Bay is a 26km paddle (Surfski and Waka Ama) departing from the stunning golden sandy Kaiteretere beach and passes along the Tasman Bay coastline - past Motueka, Kina and R

uby Bay and finishing at the picturesque and popular Mapua Wharf. The 'Abel Tasman Islands' event will be run again this year, however with a course change. Paddlers will start and finish at Kaiteretere Beach. This event is 18km and is open to surfski and waka ama. Paddlers will make their way from the beach to Split Apple Rock, then across to paddle clockwise around Adele Island and back to Kaiteretere Beach for an on land finish.
