A suit with a history of its own. At the Aotearoa Music Awards last week, Marlon Williams wore a 30-year-old suit first made for a wedding, later featured in NZFW 2025 Opening Show: Into the Archives, curated by NZFW Creative Director - a garment now carried through time, context and meaning.

As puts it, “you put on the wrong t-shirt, and it makes you write a song that’s just way out,” capturing the unexpected dialogue between fashion and music, and how each can inform the other in ways that are often imperceptible, yet deeply felt.

Acknowledging the New Zealand makers and designers whose work continues to shape his wardrobe and world.

On the red carpet at last week’s Aotearoa Music Awards, co-host of the event wore a look shaped in collaboration with NZFW Creative Director

“Dan had a vision straight away.”

The direction was set at a fitting at where a sharp suit took form through considered tailoring, guided by Dan’s instinct and Tom’s playful approach to style. A distinctive tie and brooch pairing anchored the final look, bringing character and personality to the silhouette.

“My favourite fashion icons have all been musicians.”

Fresh from the red carpet at last week’s Aotearoa Music Awards, Ruel joins NZFW for a conversation on style, influence and the New Zealand labels currently catching his eye.

From Steve Lacey and Tyler, The Creator to Wynn Hamlyn, Entire Studios and Beach Brains it’s a reminder that great style rarely exists in isolation.

“It always starts with the artist.”

Backstage at last week’s Aotearoa Music Awards, NZFW Creative Director gives us a front-row seat to the making of ’s red carpet moment.

The look is shaped by the spirit of Geneva’s album Piki Piki, which celebrates positivity and unity, and features a design by AUT graduate , whose work has also been shown on the runways of Paris.

Fashion has long been a bridge between cultures, communities and creative exchange across the Pacific.

Last weekend, New Zealand designers Jeanine Clarkin and Amber Bridgman presented their work at Fiji Fashion Week, bringing collections shaped by culture, identity and whakapapa to an international audience.

We’re so proud to see designers from Aotearoa contributing to the broader fashion landscape, championing perspectives that are uniquely their own while enriching the conversations shaping our industry.

Congratulations to Jeanine Clarkin, Amber Bridgman and Fiji Fashion Week on a powerful celebration of Pacific creativity, culture and contemporary design.

For the final playlist in our NZ Music Month series, Rory William Docherty shares the soundtrack to his world.

This one brings the series to a close in style. Dark, cinematic, and beautifully considered, this is a playlist that moves at its own pace. The first four tracks, played in exact sequence, are from his debut NZFW show in 2023. The next five from Australian Fashion Week, Pulp from a Webbs Design Week event, and then London Fashion Week. A playlist that traces a designer’s journey across some of the world’s most significant fashion stages.

The Designer’s Cut by Rory William Docherty. Brooding. Atmospheric. Unmistakably RWD.

And that wraps up our NZ Music Month Designer’s Cut series. To find our Spotify playlists, follow the link below.

Did you hear? makes her NZFW opening show debut this August, setting the tone for the week ahead.

A new summer collection hits the runway - feminine, fun, classic with a twist.

Nostalgia threads through the collection, with reimagined CC prints and silhouettes nodding back to where it all began on the NZFW runway eight years ago. Built through years of growth, a loyal community, and an instinctive understanding of the Caitlin Crisp woman.

A defining moment for one of Aotearoa’s most recognisable contemporary brands - elevated, considered, and finished with that unmistakable CC sparkle.

TICKETS WILL SELL OUT.
