Around 20 PWMC Poker Adjunct members made up the 263 players who traveled for the 2026 Clubs NZ North Island Poker Tournament. This years annual Kings Birthday Weekend event was hosted by Hamilton Workingmen's Club
Well done to Peter Dorne, Barry Cuneen, Jack Efaraimo, Peter Daniel, Bryce Luey, Jo French and Tony Grant who survived Day 1 and started Day 2 of the Main Event.
No one likes to bubble and this year that dubious honour goes to last years Consolation Game bubble, Barry Cuneen. Luckily a bubble deal had been brokered so he didn't come away completely empty handed.
Peter Dorne keeps our game running every Thursday night. Being a poker TD / admin can sometimes be a thankless task but Pete turns up every week and does a great job of organising games and our groups trips away.
Not only was Peter last Petone Working Men's Club Poker HQ player standing, when he outlasted UpperHutt CossieClub Aces High member, Pauline Harwood, he was the last Wellingtonian standing. Finishing 12th is not an easy feat in these games, that can be long days with the amount of players involved. Well done Pete on your 12th place cash finish.
Thanks to Hamilton WMC Poker for a well run event. Bryce Tinkler and his team did a fantastic job especially after the sad events of Friday night.
We can't wait to head to Manurewa Cossie Club next year.
