99 days out.

That’s 99 chances to quit before you even start.
99 chances to back out.
99 chances to doubt yourself.

Good.

Because the people who show up at Laps at the Lakes aren’t built for comfort. They’re carved, not curated. The kind of people 'No Code Events' are built for.

Lap after lap...Heavy legs...Long hours.
We can't wait to see you on the start line.

💚 Sending our aroha to the Lakes whānau 💚

The recent weather bomb that smashed into the Coromandel has reeked havoc on the Lakes Resort Golf Course, leaving much of the course blanketed in thick, muddy silt. The clean-up is well and truly underway, but for now the course remains closed.

We want to send huge aroha to the incredible team at The Pauanui Lakes Resort Golf Course - a true slice of Coromandel paradise and proud supporters of our local community and our ultra-running event.

If you’re in Pāuanui for the long weekend, now’s a great time to rally around and show some love:
⛳️ Book a session on the golf simulator
🍻 Sink a couple of cold ones
🍽️ Treat yourself to a delicious dinner from the Tairua Beach Club pop-up restaurant

Let’s throw our support behind this special place as they get back on their feet. The Coromandel always shows up when it matters 💪🌊

💛 Together We Made a Difference! 💛

Kia ora e hoa mā, we just want to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible generosity shown by everyone who took part in this year’s Laps at the Lakes. 🙌

Because of YOU - the runners, walkers, supporters and legends who made the day what it was - we were able to donate $1,579 to the awesome crew at the I Am Hope Foundation. 💛

That’s more than just a number…it represents the collective spirit, aroha and mahi of our community coming together for something bigger than ourselves.

Ngā mihi nui to each and every one of you who made this possible. You should all be super proud! 🥳

🚨 Athlete Spotlight 🚨

One of our Laps at the Lakes legends, Sam, is about to take on something truly next level — the Adventure Race World Champs (ARWC) in British Columbia this September.

We’re talking 750km of non-stop, multi-discipline madness: hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, pack rafting, ropes, abseiling, ziplining — and whatever other “mystery” challenges the organisers decide to throw in! All of it is navigated the old-school way: map and compass only.

The course winds its way through rivers, alpine terrain, remote indigenous villages… and maybe even the odd grizzly bear 🐻. Teams are bussed overnight to the secret start line, handed their maps, and given just two hours to plan their route before setting off.

The race course stays open for 10 days, with elite teams expected to knock it out in 5–6. For Sam and his crew, the mission is clear: finish the full course, beat the time cut-offs, and most importantly — survive! 😂

Their team name, “Why Wait,” carries a powerful story. A friend of one of Sam’s teammates was tragically killed by a drunk driver while out training. His life motto was simple but strong: Why wait? — and that’s exactly the energy driving Sam and his crew into this adventure.

From all of us here at Laps at the Lakes — go well Sam, we’ll be cheering you on from Pāuanui! 💪🔥
