22lr Silhouette shoot We Shoot steel silhouette pop up targets and gongs using 22lr rifles out to 100m. We shoot on Range2 on the 1st Sunday of any month.

RRGC Turitrea Road Palmerston North. We welcome Non FAL holders and youngsters from 8 years old onwards.

We have had another very successful shoot on the 3rd of May on Range 2. Some very good scores were recorded with Neil J scoring 20/20 on the 100m targets. We would like to extend a big thank you to Neil for his input in helping Matt P setting up his new rifle and tuning it in. Thank you Neil.

Hello everyone, We are looking ahead to shooting through the winter months. Due to the fact that we receive a lot of rain and wind during our winters we have designed a shoot that does not require the setting up of the two gazebos at the 50m mark. We are looking at setting up fun paper targets at 50m but still retaining the 100m steel targets. I have attached a couple of images of the targets we propose to use. They will be shot in sequence starting at the top then shooting at the targets coming down vertically and a diminishing dia. The large square targets at the top are the sighting target, then the scorers are vertically arrayed below them.
We hope this will keep the interest in the section going and offer an interesting challenge.
Our next shoot will be on Sunday may the 3rd.
Registration for our more experienced shooters 1045 shooting from 11 until 1230.
Registration for Newcomers, kids & Non FAL holders 1245 shooting from 130 onwards.

We do apologise in the delay in putting up this post.
We are happy to announce, 22lr are back on Range 2, this allows us to shoot 50m and 100m targets over the day.
Our first shoot was held on April 5th and was a great success. Our new timetable and shooting schedule worked very well.
Here are some results from the 100m shoot, top scores 17/20, 16/20 and 15/20.
50m scores, 16/20, 2 x 25/20 some of these scores were from first tiome shooters.
Anne and I were very busy during the shoot and forgot to take any images. We had had a full dress rehearsal on the previous and Wednesday and I managed to grab a quick video of the set up we now use this is the video which is attached.
Our next shoot will be on Sunday May the 3rd. Come along have some fun, all are welcome.

Good News, We are returning to Range 2 where we first started the 22lr silhouette section.
We can now shoot both 50m and 100m targets. We will also be introducing scoring targets on paper.
We are starting anew from Sunday 5th of April. Registration for our senior and experienced shooters is from 1045. Shooting commencing at 11.00am until 12 noon.
For our new shooters and juniors registration is from 1245 until 1.15 shooting commencing from 1.30 until 4.30.
Come along have fun & test your accuracy on our new targets.

Despite the wind playing havoc on the range some of our shooters still achieved fantastic scores, Shane 19/20, Matt C 17/20.
Our juniors and first time shooters also had a great start to there journey into 22 silhouette section shooting, Rossy ( 11 years old) 8/10 (first time shooting). Richard 14/20 (first time shooter). Well done everyone.
We had a re-visit from our " Bucket list" shooters from last month. George and Sylvia came back to the range and had another shoot both on steel and on paper. Sorry boys .. We lost, Sylvia 74/100 on a 4" target at 50m, George 64/100. Bragging rights to Sylvia all the way back to England. Safe journey, Thank you for the company.

A great big THANK YOU to everyone who attended and assisted us in having another fantastic and successful shoot on our temporary ranges 6a & 6b.
A special mention to our volunteers who manned the gate to allow our non members in.
We tried to make the best of the ranges which restricted our shoot to 50m.
27 attendees for the shoot on the 8th of Feb, Including a couple from England who had as part of their bucket list always wanted the opportunity to shoot "live" ammunition at targets rather than air rifle.
After our Induction and safety briefings they scored 12/20 and 14/20 respectively. A fantastic effort.
We have implemented a new squad shoot with timings etc, this seemed to work very well.
Our Senior section had a very good shoot with a perfect 20/20 being shot by Bradley Pierpoint _ well done.
In our junior section we again had a couple of perfect scores.
The KYL ( know your limit ) target array is proving to be a real challenge at 50m especially as the last target is only 4.5mm in width.
Our next shoot will be on Sunday March the 8th, For RRGC members and experienced shooters registration is at 1045am shooting commencing at 1100 am until 12 noon.
General Registration ( New members, Non FAL holders and Kids 8+) 1245 to 115pm. Shooting commencing at 130pm until 4pm.

News update, Due to new regulations regarding shooting steel targets we have had to change our range usage. We are now shooting on the 2nd Sunday of any month on Ranges 6A & 6B at RRGC. We are still shooting 50m with the same targets. Registration is from 12.45 and closes at 115pm access after this time cannot be guaranteed. I have attached a map of how to access 6A & 6B.

Here we have a short video on the training that we are introducing to our new shooters. This video shows one of our young shooters showing the safety protocols in taking a rifle from the rack to the mound, shooting then safely returning the rifle to the rack.

Another fantastic Sunday on range 2 shooting steel silhouettes. Our young shooters continue to improve their scores and accuracy. The young shooters were facing a new distance (50m) and still achieved scores of 7's 8's 9's and a 10/10.
Our adult shooters shooting at 50m were given the challenge of far smaller targets and a KYL array. Many scores of 17's 18's and a19 were recorded.
We look forward to adding new exiting and challenging targets in 2026.
Our next shoot will be on Sunday 1st of February, Registration form 1245, shooting from 115 onwards. Come along have fun, All are welcome.

Another successful day on the range. 22 competitors of all ages with some very encouraging scores (19/20) at 50m. Kids section, excellent scoring 40m 2 x 9/10, 1 x 8/10, 1 x 7, 2 @6. Looking forward to our next meeting in January. Well done everybody.
