Palmerston North is the greatest place in the world to experience live music. Well, at least it could and should be. Cameron Wilkes, David Stevens and Harry Lilley know just how good it can be to be part of a good community live music event here in Palmerston North. The problem is, there isn't a good, regular, friendly, appropriately sized space to do that in our little corner of the world. We wan

t to fix that, and we want everyone to be a part of it with us. We believe not having a space like this has a lot of flow on effects for the community. Having nowhere appropriate for artists to perform means that these artists get to perform less often, as there are less events. Less events means that artists have less incentive to practice and create, hence less artists. Also, the community is less used to having the opportunity to see artists perform, so audience numbers drop and events are less successful, so even LESS events are put on, and the arts community in the city doesn't flourish, it plummets. Photographers, graphic designers, and budding sound and lighting technicians all get fewer opportunities to practice their craft, and artists get less help financially to create their art. It's important to acknowledge that there are still people and organisations working very hard to keep Palmerston North the resiliently vibrant place that it is, especially places like The Stomach, who continue to work hard with the help of the PNCC to provide a space where music performers can develop and hone their craft. We hope to work in close conjunction with people and places like these, making sure that what we provide is complimentary, and that everything we do helps or aids the arts community as a whole. We feel that this is a project that needs a community behind it, not just financially but in spirit. We want the city to own the project, and for each and every supporter to be a champion of its cause. We believe so strongly in this project that we have invested our own money into making sure that it succeeds, and we would like the community to be the figurative fourth investor in this project. To date over 100 acts from Aotearoa New Zealand and afar have performed at Great Job!

Cheers for the s/o Oli / Hans Pucket / The Wireless

"As for where things are venue-wise in Wellington at the moment, Oliver says that there’s some good spaces which seem to be pretty accessible, but he’d like to see an all-ages/alcohol-free venue like Palmerston North’s Great Job!"

Hey - these guys, How Get are awesome. If you're wondering what ever happened to 'His Master's Boys' this is them! Looking forward to seeing them this way again in 2016. Check out this great single they recently released, which was recorded at Creative Sounds a.k.a The Stomach with Cameron Wilkes earlier this year. http://howget.bandcamp.com/
