“We encourage you to make substantive changes to the Conservation Amendment Bill to restore New Zealanders’ trust that Government manages conservation land and waters to preserve their intrinsic values and as a shared treasure.”

Former ministers from National, Labour, and the Greens, are calling for the Government to make substantial changes to the Conservation Amendment Bill.

Our conservation land is a treasure that future generations need us to protect. But right now, the Conservation Amendment Bill would prioritise economic development like mining over conservation as DOC’s key purpose.

Across the political spectrum, people understand the inherent value of conservation land. Not just for our tourism, but also our identity, and our whakapapa. Our native species depend on these precious wild places to survive and thrive.

If you care about our public conservation land, it’s time to march for nature. Join tens of thousands of New Zealanders as we show every politician how much aroha we have for nature.

1pm. Albert Park in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. Join us.
