Our Karma Yogis are the steady hands and open hearts that help make Kirtan Fest Aotearoa possible.

This year, we're inviting applications so we can create a well-supported, balanced, and harmonious crew to serve throughout the festival. If you feel called to offer your energy in the spirit of devotion, community, and kirtan, we would love to hear from you.

Karma Yogi tickets cover:
• 4 nights accommodation
• 4 meals during the festival

We will be reviewing applications and making our selections around August.

Day 3 brought an unforgettable wave of energy as the Kirtan Fest Ecstatic Dance session took everyone on a journey beyond words. From the very first beat, the dance floor came alive with joy, connection, and pure freedom of expression. Smiles, laughter, movement, and heart-opening moments filled the space as our community danced together as one. We were so ready for it!!

A special shoutout to DJ Arkaya, whose presence and musical journey carried us through ecstatic highs, fun grooves, and moments of connected bliss. The way he wove rhythm, devotion, and celebration into a seamless experience had everyone connected from start to finish.

The joy in the marquee was undeniable. So many people shared how much they enjoyed the session, describing it as one of the highlights of the festival. The energy, the music, and the collective spirit created something truly magical.

Thank you to everyone who showed up with open hearts and dancing feet...ecstatic dance reminded us of the power of movement, and community to bring us fully into the present moment.

So many festivals can feel like a lot on the nervous system.
Too many choices. Too much stimulation. Too much pressure to keep up.

What we love about our Kirtan Fest is that it’s designed differently.

The natural environment of Strathean Retreat holds so much of the energy for us ... the trees, the space, the earth, the fresh air. Nature has a way of soaking up the chaos and helping everyone soften back into themselves.

The practice of kirtan itself also regulates and grounds. Singing together, breathing together, resting in mantra together… it creates spaciousness instead of overwhelm.

And one thing that feels especially important to us: there is only ever ONE thing scheduled at a time.

No frantic deciding.
No fear of missing out.
No rushing between spaces trying to catch everything.

You can fully arrive where you are.

Nervous system care is a genuine priority for us as organisers. Anna and Adhyatma have poured a lot of intention into creating a festival atmosphere that feels nourishing, spacious and human.

Food, Glorious Food!

The food and service at Kirtan Fest was next level. Totally delicious, nourishing, abundant and made with so much love.

From the Hare Krishna buffet, to the community lunch of beans and nachos, to delicious crepes, toasties and salads, spring rolls, and yes, even fries one night!

And we can’t forget the absolute best dosa on the coast (or anywhere outside of India!).

So much care goes into feeding our community, and it really is part of the magic of the festival — sharing kai, sitting together, and enjoying good food with good people.

Some of our Christchurch and Kapiti sangha joined beautiful souls from around Aotearoa in Hawke’s Bay for the wonderful Bhakti Weekend.

We sang, shared delicious food, connected, laughed, and soaked up the nourishment of being together. Truly the best medicine.

We’re still basking in the joy, music, and community. So grateful for this mid-year gathering.

Already looking forward to gathering again at Kirtan Fest this January!
