Splore Festival

25/05/2026

Activist, comic genius, mischief maker, stirrer, punk, truth-teller, camp leader and national treasure.

Jools was fearless and together with Lynda they changed the world.

Out and proud before it was ok and forevers generous enough to bring rest of the Aotearoa along for the ride.

When the Topp Twins came to Splore in 2021, they didn’t just play a set. They embodied the festival. Popping up, catching people off guard, and leaving whole tracts of Tāpapakanga in stitches.

That is the magic magic. Big-hearted, ridiculous, brave, and completely alive. We feel incredibly lucky that Splore got to hold even a small piece of it.

To Lynda, we cannot begin to imagine the size of this loss. We are sending every bit of aroha we can from this whole whānau.

Thank you, Jools. For the songs, the courage, the chaos, the laughter, the love and for showing us what freedom can feel like.

Tautoko to Splore’s Treaty partner, Ngāti Paoa, on their Treaty Settlement today which just happens to coincide with the Iwi’s original signing of The Treaty of Waitangi at Karaka Bay, in 1840.

This has been the result of over 15 years of formal Settlement negotiations with the Crown, preceeded by 140 years of iwi petitions and lobbying to seek redress for land confiscations dating back to 1863/64.

On November 3, 1863, British gunship, HMS Miranda was sent to the southwest shores of the Firth of Thames (Ngāti Paoa rohe) to seize Māori settlements and cut off transport routes for Waikato Māori parties. The ship and its boats bombarded the Pūkorokoro kāinga (village) with rockets and shells, resulting in deaths among the residents, including men, women, and children. As part of the Treaty Settlement today, the settlement of Miranda will be renamed Pūkorokoro.

Two weddings and a rave 💍

Tali swapping the mic for celebrant duties on Friday. Hils officiating on Saturday out on the art trail, with Tikapa Moana holding the backdrop. Huge aroha to the newlyweds.

Then straight back into it. A pink-haired king dropping heavy Britney Spears remixes at Lucky Star. bringing the Bam Bam to main stage. and lighting up the Lagoon Bar, generations shoulder to shoulder, smiles wide, kanikani in motion.

Glenn 📷 and Sambath 🎥 capturing it all. The bits you didn’t see, the moments you missed, all coming back at you on our feed.

Sambath saw it all. ✨
From holding court in the bathtub to furries in full strut, in her element, bodies flying on the cabaret rope, going full punk, indeed, and throwing down a proper New York house sermon direct from NYC.

And somehow… we stayed hydrated. 🍹

Cold ones in hand. The Corona bar all lounged out, couches and palms shifting in the breeze, its own little escape. Alba Cantina right on the beach, main stage in full view with a magarita in hand. Charred pineapple for us, thanks. Hypoketsu glowing blue at Te Kanikani. Node keeping the electrolytes steady all weekend, Joe doing mercy runs to the parched camp zones like a legend.

To all our partners, the drinks, the design, the build, the lot of you, thank you for being in it with us.

And thank you for pulling the sponsorship together.

Part of the legacy now. ❤️

Splore Friday ✨

Beautiful beings streaming past the guy dancing on the post into Seaview. Goat track humming as we made our way to the pōwhiri. Ngāti Paoa and Ngāti Whanaunga holding us for Splore all these years. John in the kākahu, stones to take home.

Night fell. Tāpapakanga lit the sky, making the site legendary. Music everywhere, movement everywhere.

Artists bringing their energy. Pure Splore magic.

Still feeling it, whānau.

Hard to believe that a week ago we were walking into Seaview Field with that quiet Thursday buzz in our chests ✨

That moment before everything opens.
Before the dust lifts.
Before the music claims you.

Thursday is intimate. A thousand of us upstairs, setting the frequency for what’s to come.

OGs and .artist opening the portal like they always do. An institution. Ngā mihi nui for the years you’ve held that line.

, our international convert, back again and generous as ever. Three sets. No holding back.

Our founder . Creative force. Leader. Breathworker. DJ. A sharp five-track, twenty-minute reminder of why this exists. Then into Wellness for a screening of , ’s love letter on film. Starring you. Always you.

If you haven’t seen it, catch it when it lands in your taone 🎬

Can you tell we’re still in it?

We hope you are too. This belongs to all of us.

Ngā mihi, Splorers.

Splore Saturday.

All of it happened here. Today.

A floating world just off the shoreline.
Rituals and ridiculousness side by side.
The everyday, tipped slightly on its axis and set free by the sea.

A mini society unfolding in real time. Creative. Effervescent. Connected.

Wherever you looked, something unbelievable was taking shape. And that feeling? Priceless.

Thank you, Splorers. You make this place what it is.

Love you.

Sunday tickets are available. Come join us and help lay this village gently to rest.
