Lucky Star HQ is on the road to WOMAD Aotearoa 2027!⭐

Rolling into the Bowl of Brooklands in March, LuckyStar is bringing its colourful little world of live music, DJs, cabaret, roaming characters, interactive games and good old-fashioned festival shenanigans with it.

Built around vintage-inspired trucks, quirky spaces and retro lounges, LuckyStar is part stage, part café, part playground and part beautiful chaos. A welcoming place for families, kids and big kids alike.

Pull up a seat, grab a drink, catch a show, join a game, have a dance or get swept up in whatever fun is unfolding. This is entertainment you can be part of, where kids can join the action, grown-ups can let their hair down and there’s always something unexpected happening.

Quirky, playful, welcoming and wonderfully weird, LuckyStar is joining us at WOMAD Aotearoa 2027. ⭐

A symbol for Tuareg resistance and poetry since 1979, Tinariwen blends blues with Saharan traditions to create a unique output that has turned the heads of artists from Robert Plant to José González.

Founded in Northern Mali, the band are pioneers of the assouf style (‘nostalgia’ in the Tamasheq language), bringing Tuareg stories to the world stage. Beginning their career as a wedding band, bootlegged tapes helped the now GRAMMY-winning collective to gain a following across the Sahara.

Now on their tenth studio album, Tinariwen are award-winning globetrotters who have left their mark through a marriage of traditional drums with electric guitars and immersive storytelling.

Troy Kingi is bringing the finale of his ambitious 10|10|10 project to WOMAD Aotearoa 2027.

Ten albums. Ten genres. Ten years.

Spanning psychedelic soul, funk, roots reggae, hip-hop, folk, synth-pop, desert rock and more, Troy will bring that decade of music to life across two landmark WOMAD performances.

One with special guests. One with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.

A major moment in Aotearoa music, celebrating the completion of one of Troy Kingi’s biggest creative projects to date.

Troy Kingi brings his genre-spanning 10|10|10 project to its finale, including a world premiere with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. Grammy award-winning Tinariwen return to the Bowl with their unmistakable desert rock, and the Fijian Flying Circus brings high-flying contemporary circus, dance and Fijian storytelling from the Pacific.

Three very different performances. One very WOMAD mix 🌍

And this is just the beginning! There’s plenty more still under wraps, with the next artist announcement coming next month.
