PLAYER ANNOUNCEMENT - And the last of our 3 survivors - Dylan Wells

Dylan was diagnosed with testicular cancer last year and had surgery to remove it. He is back to full flight playing local football as part of the Nelson Suburbs FC Seals and has put in some long hours of training at the Turf, helping them to successive Division 1 titles in 2015 & 2016.

Dylan is fizzing to be a part of this amazing event and hopes it will create more awareness around Testicular Cancer.

Welcome to the “Get Ballsy” Team Dylan!

PLAYER ANNOUNCEMENT - Number 2 of our 3 survivors - Daniel Hobbs

Daniel was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer a week before his 22nd birthday and after going through surgery, three rounds of chemotherapy and another surgery, he went on to play seven seasons of Snr A club Rugby for the Wanderers club and represented the Nelson Rowing Club at South Island and New Zealand championships.

More recently he has started playing basketball (or trying to), competing in cross country mountain bike races and for the first time this year, entered the Wairua Warrior obstacle course race but he is probably more well known in the wider sporting community from the nine years he spent as the Director of Sport at Waimea College.

Daniel said he played one season of summer football a while ago so is good to go with this game.

Welcome to the “Get Ballsy” Team Daniel!

PLAYER ANNOUNCEMENT - The first of our 3 Survivors - Nic “Mantis” Smith

Born in Nelson and having never played with a round ball before, Nic is really looking forward to this challenge.

Nic discovered he had testicular cancer in 2005 where he had to fly home from his OE in London for chemotherapy. He has recovered well and is now married with two wonderful sons.

He is passionate about rugby and most sports and has been involved in the Marist rugby club for well over 20 years winning titles in all 3 senior divisions.

Although not a superstar sportsman, Nic is excited to support this great cause and have a good go at football with some laughs along the way.

Welcome to the “Get Ballsy” Mantis!
