Nelson Techno Collective

Nelson Techno Collective There is a soul trapped in each beat. We play every shade of Techno. Whakatū , Aotearoa-New Zealand Follow us, like and catch us live.

Based in the Top of the South in Aotearoa, the Nelson Techno Collective are one of the leading lights in the local electronic music scene. Barcelona's Alvaro Moreno, Londoner Sam Reynolds, and Kiwi Devious Monk make up the Nelson Techno Collective. They play a wide spectrum of techno and collaborate with high quality local DJs and technicians to throw epic parties. I love for good music, good sound and creative expression is at the core.

\\ Nocturnal V Line Up: ALVARO MORENO \\

NTC founder and multiinstrumentalist Alvaro Moreno is well know in Whakatū's music scene. He recognises he gets a bit emotional when realises that NTC is turning 5:

> It all started as a way of bringing the music we love to the dancefloors in Nelson and NZ. We soon discover that we were not alone and that many techno lovers were just waiting for the right time (and music) to come out! We are so thankful to all the support we have received since we started in 2021. <

\\ Let's introduce the line up for Nocturnal V:

\\ We have a new face in town: Dj Cib. You might have came across him at the full moon drumming, Red 16 open mic, or just recently, he represented our collective at Into The Vortex Festival - Inanguahua.

\\ In his own words:

"Electronic music Dj and producer in the genres of techno, breaks, electro, minimal, house and the in between. Born and breed in Montevideo, Uruguay. Moved to New Zealand in 2013, living in Nelson at the moment. Started djing when he was 17 mainly with vinyl records and a few years later his interest in producing his own music knocked on the door.
He’s got a background on percussion and guitar being able to play different instruments.
The music he makes is cooked in his house truck studio essentially with analog synthesizers." \\\

\\ Dj Cib is ready to open the dancefloor from 8pm and welcome your hungry ears with the best music.

Happy new year to everyone. We have been very quiet recently as life got very busy for all the people that makes up this collective. But be sure we have not forgot about you, our dearest supporters. While we are preparing a whole bunch of awesome things for this 2026 (it is our 5th bday! yay!) we will be posting some memories from previous years as well as sharing the music from our label that is available on Bandcamp!

Thank you for your unconditional love!

Hey friends 🌞
It’s been a minute! We’ve been in hibernation mode — between European travels, house moves, and keeping warm through the winter. But the sunshine’s back, the decks are dusted off, and we’re ready for a big summer ahead 🌴
We’ve got some special events brewing, including a milestone 5 years of Nelson Techno Collective — so keep your eyes peeled for that one 👀
To kick things off, our resident Sam is doing a double header next weekend:
🐕 Saturday at The Dog’s Bone with Strange Behaviour
🌿 Sunday at Founders Park for some laid-back grooves
Come hang, soak up the sounds, and get back into the rhythm with us

Tomato! Release Alert! 🍅

Nelson Techno Collective is very proud to introduce our 4th release on the label:

Ngā Oro Rōria by Droneeater

Digital pre-orders are ready through our Bandcamp, go and show some support for this local talent:
https://nelsontechnocollective.bandcamp.com/album/ng-oro-r-ria

Release date: 19-09-2025.

About Ngā Oro Rōria:

Written between 2024 and 2025, the waiata on this EP are the first works to be officially released by Droneeater after he and his whānau moved from Te Ika a Māui to Whakatū. The songs contribute to the growing, and powerful, body of waiata that successfully present te reo Māori as a language thoroughly at home on the dancefloor - kia rere te reo Māori, ahakoa kei hea. Despite the best attempts by our current kāwanatanga, te reo Māori can be heard across the motu, in traditional and innovative contexts. This wave cannot be stopped. As Hirini Melbourne once sang “kōrero Māori i ngā wā katoa. I te ao, i te pō.” Speak Māori all the time, everywhere.

About Droneeater:

Droneeater emerged out of the desire to explore the microtonal, drone elements developed in Māori mōteatea. Beginning with the guitar and voice, the project has grown to include taonga pūoro, percussion and electronic music production and is both a studio and live project. Droneeater’s whakapapa connections link him to Te Ātiawa and Ngāti Porou and he and his whānau live in Whakatū where there is a rich musical and Māori cultural spring to draw from.

Ngā Oro Rōria is here! Full album available on Bandcamp!

I te pō!
I te pōuriuri!
I te pō-tāhuri-mai-ki-te-ao!
Ki te ao!
Te ao hurihuri!
Te ao mārama!

Tīhei mauri ora!

Ka whānau mai tēnei ao.
Te ao o Hine Raukatauri.
Te ao nā ngā tūpuna i whakatere.
Tēnā koutou, koutou i whetūrangitia.
Ānei te reo o ngā atua.
Ānei ngā oro o te ao Māori.
Kōrerotia te reo o ngā tūpuna.
Waiatatia te wairua o ngā tūpuna.
Whano, whano! Haramai te toki!
Haumi ē! Hui ē! Tāiki ē!

Ka mātua mihi au ki ngā kaitito waiata reo Māori, nā rātou i whakatō i ngā kākano reo Māori i roto i ahau.
