Whare Flat Folk Festival

Whare Flat Folk Festival is the kind of event that you just want to experience again and again. We think it's the best way to ring in the new year.

Running from 30th Dec - 3rd Jan with guest artist from near and far willing to share their mahi, music and knowlege, it's a community folkused (see what we did there) event about celebrating cultural identity. Telling the stories and making the music that are part of who we are.

Guest Artist Applications are currently open but are closing on the 7th of June. If you consider yourself a folk artist (or even folk adjacent) with a community approach to sharing what you do and want to join the festival fun, apply now.

Such incredible talent from our local scene! This band was definitely very special to have at our 50th celebration - a lot of history with the festival in that line up. Thanks for sticking around

We've just had the most wonderful 4 days of music, mates, and a little madness at the Whare Flat Folk Festival. It was such a privilege to perform at the 50th anniversary festival and we've all left feeling grateful, inspired, and fulfilled. Thank you to the amazing Sibby Dillon and her committee of tireless organisers, to the volunteers who worked non-stop to look after us, and to the audiences who were so enthusiastic. We love you all!

What a great way to ring in the New Year! Had a blast playing a nighttime showcase, and a daytime set at Whare Flat Folk Festival Thanks to all the Shakys, and to all the other performers who took the stage. Big thanks to the sound and light team, and all the crew at the festival who fed us and made us feel so welcome. Much appreciated. ✌️
