Unfortunately now cancelled due to the forecast cyclone

Join us this Sunday 12th from 10am–11am for a fantastic live performance by the talented Carson Taare!

Based in Palmerston North, Carson is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist known for his rich country and folk sound, inspired by the storytelling traditions of the 1960s and ’70s. 🌾🎸

A 2019 New Zealand VAC “Rising Star”, Carson has taken his music all the way to Nashville, performing at the Country Music Artists Festival alongside Sonny Curtis of Buddy Holly and the Crickets. He’s also a familiar face at the Paihia Country Rock Festival and has featured on national radio, including The Mike Hosking Breakfast and RNZ Afternoons with Jesse Mulligan.

With three albums already released and new music on the way in 2026, this is a performance you won’t want to miss!

Pumpkins and pies prizes to be won! 🎃♥

Time to get your pumpkin pie recipes out and ready along with your pumpkin and produce entries for the Marton Harvest Festival on April 12 at James Wilson Park.

The festival will again feature the annual pumpkin competition sponsored by EM Travel, Rangitikei District Monitor and the pumpkin coloured shop Ward ‘s Furniture Ltd. Growers will weigh-in in to compete for first and second prize in the adult and prizes in the children’s sections, as well as vying to exhibit the ugliest and best-looking pumpkin which is chosen from all categories.

The well fought pumpkin pie contest is on again and usually attracts a delicious array of entries. It is judged with the help of the MC and celebrity guest for the day.

There's also a fruit and vege section this year so bring along anu big examples of fruit or vegetables you have grown in your garden.

All entries must be delivered to the pumpkin stall (near the centre gate entrance at James Wilson Park) by 10am on April 12 - in time for judging by the harvest festival celebrity guest MC. So, get your produce ready and join the pumpkin fun!

It is also time to put out your Scarecrows at your gate. For details See Marton Scarecrow Competition on Facebook or pick up am entry form at St Matthew’s School ......$5 entry.

Hailing from right here in Marton, The Fireflys are a fun-loving band known for their great harmonies, feel-good energy, and a mix of country, folk, pop, and classic favourites. With male and female vocals backed by guitar, keyboard, violin, bass, and drums, they know exactly how to get a crowd smiling, singing along, and soaking up the atmosphere.

Entries are already rolling in and they’re looking fantastic!

Because of the great response we’re extending the competition by one week.

👉 All scarecrows must now be up and on display by Wednesday 8 April
🏆 Judging starts Thursday
🎉 Winners announced at the Marton Harvest Festival, Sunday 12 April

If your scarecrow is moveable, we’d love to display it at the Harvest Festival so even more people can enjoy your creation!

We’re excited to welcome Cinnamonui to the Marton Harvest Festival, home of some seriously delicious freshly baked cinnamon scrolls. Soft, warm, and loaded with flavour, these treats have quickly become a favourite at markets and events around the region.
