Just had an awesome meeting with Ahmed, who’s working with us on a mean Street Fighter movie promo 👀

Absolute top fella. He works on events and activations for movie premieres and is also involved with Silky Otter Cinemas, so there’s some seriously cool stuff we can do together.

Not gonna spoil too much yet... but we’re working on something BIG.

Maybe a custom Street Fighter console for a giveaway? 👀🎮

This partnership is going to mean some pretty awesome things coming up for both Geek Inventory and The Retro Event NZ , not just for Street Fighter but future movie promos too.

Keep your eyes peeled... this is gonna be fun 😎🔥

Welly what a day!

Just posting a small lot of pics from how the first ever Retro Event Wellington went down.

Amazing cosplay comp and parade, a HUGE 8 foot tall Bumblebee walking around, KITT, gaming stations, Pokemon learn to play and heaps more going on all day. Some stuff unfortunately canceled last minute out of our control but what a line up!

Honestly still cant believe this was our first ever Welly event. We had no idea what to expect.

Massive thank you to everyone who came out and supported us, the vendors, cosplayers, families, gamers and everyone who helped make the day what it was.

And yep... we are 100% coming back to Welly next year.

2 DAYS this time 😎

Thank you Welly ❤️

15/09/2026

Before we show the Welly event pics tomorrow, just wanted to say a massive thank you to all the vendors ❤️

Huge thank you to APG Media for the photos 📸

Here are just a few of the vendors and because of them, these events are what they are. All the random collectibles, games, toys, cards, figures, art, retro stuff and heaps of cool stuff everywhere.

And man... the prices in Welly were actually really good. I ended up buying a decent haul which I'll post up sometime this week

The event wouldnt be the same without the vendors. You give people a reason to come hunting, digging through boxes, finding bargains and walking out with stuff they probably didnt plan on buying.

Thank you for backing us and helping make our first Welly show such a massive one ❤️

Huge thank you from all of us ❤️

Me, the wife and the whole team are absolutely shattered. pics, vids and everything else are being organised as we speak.

Huge thank you to Payap for making this event happen.

Final numbers are looking at around 3,000 people through the doors 😳

We planned this event thinking maybe 1,000 to 1,500 people would turn up... so yeah, Welly absolutely blew us away.

Thank you so much to every single person who came out to see what this little event from Auckland was all about.

And a special thank you to the one person who told us she hated it and wanted a refund on the spot 😂😂😂 can't win them all ha ha

This was our first Wellington event and me and the wife were taking notes the whole day. Things we loved, things we can improve, things we can make bigger and better.

We don't expect everything to be perfect, but every event we learn more and we will keep trying to make the next one even better for you guys.

And yep... we are already planning the next Wellington one 👀.. sep 2027 - 2 day event.
Now we switch our brains back to Auckland retro - nov 21.

That one is currently sitting at around 400 TABLES
Thank you Welly ❤️ seriously, you guys were amazing.
